Please, enlighten me. What actually happens when you win a war? Anything? Anything at all? Other than pride maybe?

As politically driven this game is, what am I missing?

Last I checked, the only reason wars happen here are because someone doesn't like someone. I could guess it also happens because someone doesn't like someone else's retal policy, but it's not like winning the war actually gets then to change it.

I play the game to have fun. You could say I try to win wars that I am involve in so I may try to have as much fun as possible.

Politically, I think there is a level of pride.
To defend and justify an alliances actions through war. If you win a war, its like saying "I can do this,". Well, atleast that is what I think people think.

It's the journey, not the finale that is important. Almost everything in life is a hollow victory.

If you are warring for a political reason then it actually means something if you beat them bad enough to convince them of your opinion.

It used to be a way to impose your will on other for your alliances benefit. Might makes right.

Now it seems it's all about grudges and crap in the past.

This is actually a great question that goes to the core of the game. War is unrecognised by the game. There is no war dynamic.

There are many great ideas to formalize war and thus make rankings possible. War power rankings, war records, the list goes on..

Unfortunately, due to the fact there has been nil effort to improve the war dynamic, it has degraded to the point where all war is about is make sure your side doesnt lose at any cost and, on the flip side, try to make your enemies members quit the game.

Sad.

SOL fights fair wars. LaF lead by Pang started a crusade to stop SOL fighting 1 v 1s vs netters about 20 months ago, to which we ceded quite a few of our practices. Servant made a very good post about it from memory. Since those LaF and LCN wars, SOL has been at the forefront of fighting even wars. SOLs reward? Well, you can see for yourself.
