I think the way how DR´s works should be looked over

So often one see netters gets gs:ed into DR so that retals wont give anything (this happens in al servers)

DR should be changed so that GS/BR/AB dosent put a country in SS/PS DR

I don't see the big deal with that... I mean people can get farmed after you Demoralize someone.

The tactic of having a friend GS or AB just to put them into DR so they cant be grabbed is lame, and shields them from retals is about the lamest ever in this game.

I have a suggestion.

If PS and SS are counted at 100% then could we devalue the other attacks. Such as....

AB 33.3%
BR 33.3%
GS 10%

Also all failed attacks place 50% of usual DR.

This way it takes either 3 AB or BR to = 1 PS or SS. Also it would take 10 GS to = 100%. This way it does seem to be more fair, and less abuseable. If someone wants to use their friend to place them in high DR with GS it'll take 100 or so.

However we can't remove DR since it really helps with newer ones and those legitimately in a war. Something along these lines would better reflect a proper amount of DR to the level of damage done. Ten GS or 3 BR/AB would in my prespective equal nearly the same damage as an SS or PS.

It happens in Express everyset. A country has his 'friend' put him in DR and then proceeds to rape everyone. Go look at your database for Express history. Pick any set doesn't matter. You will see it geting abused. That's the reason for this thread and about 3 others. We have been voicing our concerns about this for months now.

I don't care if a country gets into DR. It helps so you can rebuild. I'm sure that was one of the reasons for it in the 1st place. But if you decide to hit while in DR. Retals should result in full gains. If countries you haven't hit decide to hit you then those returns should be as it is currently. But if it is retals, it should be full gains.

Haha, i sort of agree with scaling DR to length of reset (or number of turns generated), but 96 minutes for Express would be pretty freaking intense... I feel like it could have major repercussions on the game/final land sizes and scores. I'd be happy with 12 hours or something

If you did this, then no country will ever be in DR on Express outside of special attacks. Lets say 3/4 of the players in Express try for top 10, about 90 countries. Each one makes 30 grabs over the reset on different countries, that's 2700 grabs.

But at 3 DR per 96 minutes for max land returns, a country can be attacked 45 times for maximum land (in 0-2 DR) every 24 hours. You only need 60 countries to support 2700 grabs in tier 1 DR.

DR should instead scale with amount of expected grabs in the reset, rather than reset length. People tend to grab very little in Express due to special GDI rules.

but in team and tourney its 1/30th of the reset, something more along those lines would be appropriate. A 4 or 6 hour dr would be fine in my opinion.

Just implement one of these new DR formulations next reset and see how it works. Express sets are so quick there's room for experimentation. Everyone seems to agree 24 hours is too long, just try 12 or hell even scaled and see what happens. Even if they aren't good ideas, it will be interesting to what effect they have. I also like the partial DR for special attacks, though i wouldn't change it for missiles (especially nukes).

problem with DR is it's somewhat more hardcoded and optimized for 24 hours; for example... we have a table with just news from the last 24 hours in it, to make sure that attacking doesn't require a retardedly long lookup ;)

Internally in code, you can just scale things up by a factor of 10.

Every SS and PS gives 10 DR each.
ABs and BRs gives 3 DR each.
GS gives 1 DR.

It's still the same 24 hour news lookup table, then in the landgrab returns formula, divide the DR by 10.0f.

Special attacks will then be harder to use to put people into DR.

it means i actually have to do a WHERE time > X AND country == statement instead of a just WHERE country == which affects performance
