tried and tested a tyr indy a few sets ago and decided to convert to a CI 2/3 into the game cuz military price was too lucrative. Indeed, you've a lot more land but it's difficult to match up to a CI's 35% production and 20% tech effectiveness bonuses. And trust me when I say people will hit you just because you're fat (the consequence of your retal getting back more land is irrelevant here). If I had stayed a tyranny indy all the way, I would probably have had the tyranny records.

Well, JJ is just looking for the Tyr record so if you could've had the tyranny record with that indy, I guess that works for him

Looking at the records, is CI really overpowered for express? Or is it more a case of people not having enough luck/skill playing the other strats?

it is a kinda overpowered menion, even with crappy military prices :)

I personally think CI is overpowered. To break 30M with other governments, you need to be very lucky to catch a market which is in your favour e.g. last set where the tech prices were ridiculously high. With a CI, you only need a moderately good military market (avg of $140 for military prices for the set).

It is, but i still can't play it :D

CI is overpowered in part because of the ability to sell 60% of its military in one sale.

Without this ability, say it is only 35% per sale, players in general would carry much more military units at home because they need to make multiple sales otherwise over a longer period of time. This results in a higher NW country on the whole, which grabs less land, and higher upkeep which results in less overall income per turn.

The flexibility of the CI in being able to switch between near all-turrets and all-jetter (by double-selling 60% of one or the other) is also strong. Too strong.

The 20% commission (10% selling military, 10% buying tech) in relation to obtaining tech is a non-factor, because Commie has the 20% tech effectiveness bonus which negates it completely.

The 4% extra commission when compared to the other governments is also a non-factor because no food stocking is necessary on the Express server as a CI, the 35% extra indy production more than makes up for it.

Not only that, CI's ability to store 60% military on the market significantly reduces the food upkeep costs while cashing out in the last 400 turns of the reset.

CIs can easily be nerfed by reducing the per-sale limits to 35% just like the other servers.

I didn't know about that military on the market saving food when I played Primary last set, LOL. And lost to oldman by 40k networth.

I think commie is the best gov type on all servers but maybe they just want to keep it true to life. If they do want to find a way to weaken it though, I like the idea of lowering that max tech effectiveness a little.

Commie is the weakest government on the Alliance server due to the lack of countries to attack for land as a consequence of the political scene.

Techers on the other hand, generally have it easy on Alliance, because it requires half as much land to be competitive as other strategies (eg, 25k techer vs 50k farmer).

Never mind the extra sales %. The fact remains that 35% extra production is too much. I think 25% is good enough. since military is the main part of the game/nw/market, this gives them a huge advantage. A theo may not need to buy from commies but the low tech will eventually cause them to be inefficient. Commies don't really need to do a massive stockpile. Just enough cash to run a heap loads of turns. In primary, a bigger stockpile is necessary but this is express.

It's sad that a commie can sit fat and no one would try to LG him in fear of retals because the commie can just go all jetter and has unlimited retal range. Then make the hit and go all turrets.

I think there should be a new feature where you cannot recall your stocks for at least 2 hours. That'll stop peeps on cheating for food upkeep. Or make it so you lose 3 turns out right for doing that instead of just spending 3 turns.
