Kel Tec PLR16 .223 classified as a pistol and is fun to shoot. 400 meter max effective range (need a bi-pod) between $500-$700 price.

The new M&P are actually pretty decent, a huge step up from the sigma, though higher than $500. You can pick up a Glock for $550 and never have to worry about it going click instead of bang.

Cheap to shoot though, ammo for my .40 is twice as expensive. Besides, nothing is weak if you can aim it.

thats a false statement. You really wanna get into a situation with a .22 LR?

My wife has a S&W Model 360 i got for her birthday this year and she uses that as her CC. She doesn't even load it with .357mag, she prefers the .38 +P for accuracy from that stub nose.

note the qualifier on archaic's statement: if you can aim it

i'd take a .22 LR if i can hit a target within an inch of where i'm aiming

rather than

a .50 cal if i can only hit a target within a foot of where i'm aiming

a 9mm will go through more then a .45 will riddler. that causes the background issue though which is why im contemplating the xd .45

I suppose the .22 comment goes without saying - so the disclaimer is that . . . oh never mind I know when I'm being trolled.

awwww so proud, kemo is upgrading from his red rider double action BB gun at last!

For target practice only I like the smaller caliber. Cheap to shoot etc. For stopping power of course you would want more bang for your buck. Really though, getting shot is getting shot so in a self defense anything is better than nothing if you know how to use it.
