I'm looking forward to the last shuttle launch this coming Friday. I plan on being right on the beach watching it, providing I'm not too distracted by all the young women wearing their bikinis. :)

Looks like they might delay it until Monday now. Keeps the tourists in town over the weekend that way.

It's sad. I wish they weren't shutting down the program. Now with NASA shut down US needs to make a big push toward green energy and robotics, we are way behind.

Yeah I don't think NASA itself is shutting down.. I still think space exploration should be one of mankind's highest priorities over the next 100 years.

no, they arnt planning shuttles. if you look into it they are moving back towards a Apollo type missions called the "Orion" program based on the "Ares" rocket that began life as a ICBM platform.

They are getting out of the Earth to Orbit Taxi Service business is all. They are going to turn that over to commercial interests. NASA is looking forward to putting together exploration missions to Mars and beyond near Earth orbit.

At least that's the current buzz around NASA.

I can't wait for Yellow SpaceTaxi to get started up.
