How is it that retalling seems to always produce 150% returns... When I retalled Sanct earlier I got everything back with interest, but both times I've hit you this set both targets took everything I'd gotten off me (including ghost acres) and then with another 2.5k ghost acres extra to boot?

i love the new ghost acres, its a shame ppl abuse it still. it ruins the game that only the retallers in clans beefit from the ghost acres, as most netting countries have to waste money to max out military strat early on if they want to take their own retals. :(

Yes, buying tech is such an abuse, its clearly not something the admins intended people to do.

anyone can buy military strat, but it sucks taht you do your best to calculate a grab where you would come out ahead if it were a c:c retal but in actuality you are going to get retalled by a tyr with max military strat. it makes it almost impossible to grab and comeout ahead unless you are also a tyr +mil strat. it makes us all still want to bottom feed (the new people of the game) which is what we were trying to avoid when implementing ghost acres in the first place.

The issue is having less land than your target (20 or 25% at least) and 120% Mil strat, you will come out ahead in almost all grabs, yeah Tyrs will get a huge chunk out of you, but if you take 3000 raw and 2200 in Ghost acres, and the retaler gets 3100 raw and 2300 in ghost acres, you still got ahead, Yeah is not a huge gain, but if the break isn't super high is a gain never the less... I would say Dict and Tyr are the best governments to grab, but that doesn't mean that others with high mil start will always lose on the retals... If you lose on the retals then you choose of targets was poor at best...

my point is that tyrannies can use that bonus to punish people for hitting their clan. its their right to do so of course, but makes land trading become much harder and less viable. if i am a republic (with mil strat) and i grab another republic running the same strat with say 5k more acres than myself within 10% NW, I will still lose out on the deal if i get retalled by a tyranny from the other clan with maxed out military strat. they likely have several retalling tyrannies who can be similar in NW and also be much smaller in land than i am after my hit. occasionally you win a a couple hundred acres, but after military losses and rebuilding you might as well have just bottem fed a guy 3-4 times

No one said Hitting an alliance that can retal your ass is smart. if you can keep all the land and avoid a retal by hitting small dudes, then do so, as that is much better, but grabbing a country with a similar strat is not THAT bad... and you could very well be a Republic Casher and hit another Casher... because lets face it, only a newb would try tyrany/Casher :p

there are several ways to look at grabbing, some times isn't worth it and sometimes it is, is a matter of choosing your targets and hope the best.
