C'mon man, if anyone is worth it he is, but not because "he will still be productive at the end of the deal." He absolutely will not, without PEDs of some kind. The justification is "It's worth it for the 6-7 utterly ridiculous monster years he has left." If you won't get those 6-7 years without paying for the extra 3-4 years, are those 6-7 years worth it? For Albert, you have to factor in extra ticket sales, extra tv time, more jerseys, and the fact that he can singlehandedly make your offense good enough for the postseason, and can destroy any pitcher's psyche (even a multiple all star) at any moment. So yes, he probably is worth it. Here's hoping the Mets get new owners at the break and sign Pujols in the offeason!

It's a really easy fix right now, actually. Give him what he wants now, then in 6-7 years re-structure the deal when he's on the decline. I'm not stupid enough to think he'll be playing MVP-caliber ball in ten years, let alone 6 or 7. He's still got five years left of that, plus probably three more above average. Right now, he is definitely worth that $30 mil/year.

Hell, even Holliday is saying to take $2 mil off his contract every year to sign Pujols. Scott Boras probably had a stroke when he said that.

omg anthro is billy beane 2.0 i have no clue how you think they are in shambles. I feel like they are in awesome shape collecting prospects.... once the cba is over in baseball and more teams make the playoffs the jays will be there for sure.

I'm from London originally and my dad was a tigers fan sicne the jays dind't exist when he was growing up. since it was same distance to toronto and detroit from london we always went to tiger stadium instead.

I do love the jays though, i just like the tigers more. I don't know how any jays fan cannot be ecstatic about anthro being there. we cleared so much salary in my dream world they should have enough room to afford pujols. lets not forget wells+overbay were collectively making over 30 million a year. wells at 23 or whatever and overbay at 8.5.

jays soulda tried to get russel martin is my only qualm so far right now with anthro, except maybe he knows more than the average person about that arrenciblia guy or whatever.

in 3 years hill, lind and co will all be in their prime, add in brett lawrie, drabek, a possibly healthy mccgowan, brandon morrow, romero...rajai davis can hold the fort until that superstar CF they got is ready for the bigs.

I really like the toronto blueprint a whole lot more than the tigers right now. tigers dont really have a great farm system right now and their team is getting old.

mcgowan will be back? i haven't heard anything new, not since his dead arm from last season that shut him down. morrow and romero.. you can not make it to the playoffs with two young, barely proven pitchers (although very talented, i like them both a lot.) drabek lets pray he does well.

as for our lineup, well, i'm personally elated that wells was shipped out of town. and i agree so much on russel martin, i think he's great.

we can build all we want, we'll never get any help through free agency.

That's funny because I wouldn't call formula 1 competative at all.

It's all about the car in formula one. By the end of the race there are what, 5 cars on the lead lap? How many lead changes are there per race? How many different winners do you really have in a season?

It's boring as fluff because the same people win every race. Yes they turn left and right, but unless someone car blows up, the race is already decoded half way through.

That isn't fun for me. That isn't interesting.

I don't know squat about nascar and unless i was super bombed with a bunch of rowdy bombed people around me I would find it boring to watch.

although I don't really like when people compare F1 to nascar they are two completely different animals. F1 is about getting a car to the front and having your teammate pace the rest of the pack while you race around the track. And yeah F1 is about the car as it should be thats the whole point who can build the best car given the limitations - less emphasis on the driver. nascar from what I gather every car is exactly the same and there is more emphasis on the driver/strategy.

Dude, the Uggla trade was huge! A 2b who averages 30 hr, 30 2b, 90 rbi and 90r is nothing to sneeze at! With some lineup protection he will pass the 100/100 mark easily.
