When the rig went down, it must have pulled the cunductor pipe over so that they cannot get back on it. Heap bad juju that. There must have been some serious corner cutting is all I can say - the only way a BOP should fail is if it was totally neglected or mis-installed.

This will definitely hurt the chances of drilling offshore in California and many here along East coast are joining the NO Drilling here

Offshore drilling is one of the few things Brazil does a lot better than the USA, it seems.

I live in the southern region, just above the gulf coast and I find the oil spill to be a very scary concern. I am afraid we will see a lot of fallout from it.

This has changed my thinking on energy issues, this has a chance to be a catastrophe beyond imagination, from what i've heard. The entire pool of oil could leak out if the pipe gives way completely, pretty much wrecking the whole atlantic. Time to get off oil, I'd accept cap and trade at this point.

sucks for my area, so far we dont got any worrys in my area but i live like 1/2 mile from clearwater beach this is turtle nesting season alot of concerns about it. for a while now ive helped a turtle sanctuary here help mark out nests. now with this ive already volunteered to help with clean up. i got few friends who do shrimping for a living. alot of our economy relys on travelevers on the beaches so this could suck alot.

So the next time some Ahole states the answer is offshore drilling or destroying Alaska just SAY NO!!!

i agree, but untill better technoligies are with in a cheap way oil is the best, just companys need to be safer about what they do espicialy with deep water drilling. out of the last like 50 water drilling platform accidents like 40 were because of human error and rushing to get the well pumping and profitable. any oil accident is had for the environment. but even more so on the water. luckly the way the currents are we wont have much of a problem for now. and i am on the west coast of florida so the gulf stream runs north along us but it will be worse on like daytona beach and cocoa beach on the other side of the state.
