since there seems to be a lot of suiciding and organized killing going on here is an idea i had

no country names just a country number and no player knows his own #
this alone wouldnt prevent suiciding so in addition every country should have an array of 5 (or something) country numbers but only one of these numbers is shown to others.

e.g.
country A has (#1,#99,#54,#67,#8)
country B has (#4,#65,#99,#34,#128)
country C has (#99,#84,#24,#66,#9)

A sees B as #4 and C as #84,
B sees A as #67 and C as #24,
C sees A as #8 and B as #99

so if C attacks #99 he will attack B


i hope i made my idea somewhat clear, i know it sounds complicated
and this might be a little hard to implement though :-S

there is some merit to this scrambling idea

there are some obvious objections but they are easily finessed
1) i like names
2) you will know your # when you check the scores
3) alliances with friends are a big part of the game

like dantzig i enjoy the names but they too could be scrambled
so you create a good name and it appears on the scores but maybe not attached to your country

clearly your own country could not appear when you check the scores or you would immediately know your country number and name

you could form your alliances on the forum pregame and then have them assigned by the mods so you do not know country IDs

it seems like a ton of coding work but i do not know for sure

Choosing a name and then having it assigned to someone else's country could be hilarious.

As express gets more popular wont that fix the suicides? At least relative to the number of players.

And i for one use suicides as a way to pay back some jerk for going way overboard on a LG

2) can be easily changed, you simply dont see your # when you check the scores page :P
3) shouldnt matter in Express, since its a soloplayer server, i believe, i dont know for sure since i pretty much mod it since day 1, so i never played it

you could still suicide someone who farmed you, you know the # that is visible to you

naming another country could be hiarious

have to keep it semi-clean but it could still be a scream

You could always do random country assignments to accounts when a round starts. It would be like playing someone else's country for them all set. :-)
