Michael Chiero aka Mr. Lemon Chiffon, passed away on Sept 4 after many years of illness.

He was a polarizing character in earth2025 and as such he was not without his adversaries. But LC was a giant. Everything he did was big and loud and this game was more exciting when he was storming through it.

I don't know if many realized the extent of physical pain LC was in, even in his late 30s, during the prime of his e2025 career. Perhaps knowing so puts some of his earth presence into a different perspective. I for one know that LC loved this community, friends and foes alike.

He was a true Earth Legend and he will be missed.

As oil sits above 300, I can't help but think of LC up above, laughing as the cash pours into his country, the oil bot finally finely tuned.

RIP Mike Chiero

i first spoke to him when i was like fourteen years old. that was twelve, thirteen some odd years ago. i haven't spoken to him in a while, now, and sadly seemed to have missed my opportunity.

jokes aside, vic, truly, he was aces and bullets; totally boss, my friend.

Lemon Chiffon was your best friend or your worst enemy. He was a life long friend who friendship went way beyond the game. LC was one of the few guys you could always count on in a fight no matter what. Friends like that are hard to come by and the world is a worse place with out him.

This breaks my heart.

We had a lot of long late night phone conversations back in the day. He was big into gemstones and he and I actually knew some of the same people from the gem and mineral shows. Add to that the fact that I too had a lot of kidney problems, which I overcame - we would talk FA stuff for 5 minutes, then BS for an hour.

I hope where ever he is now has enough storage for all of his asian porn, I'd hate to think of having to restart that collection.

Sleep tight LC.

Adversaries or not, life is too great not to mourn the loss of an Earther.

Goodbye Mr. Lemon Chiffon. I hope we can still put on a good show for you.

Very sad news. :(
He's been fighting that battle since I started talking to him 14-15 years ago.

He brought an intensity to the game that was matched by few in one of the most intense eras of the game.

At least his pain is finally at an end.

This is from LC's brother, Don:

Don Chiero
12:53 AM (2 hours ago)

"Thank you Vic. I read the post. I do know about Earth2025. I do not know if my brother Rick was also involved in that. I doubt it though. Mike was #4 of 6 boys. I am #6.

Someone inquired about what he had. So I will sum it up for you to paraphrase to the group if you care to. I might ramble too much here. This is off the top of my head. He was a Type 1 diabetic since age 11. With complications. First he had many eye retina laser surgeries to repair diabetic retinopathy. Lost some toes due to the disease. Kidney failed. Went on kidney dialysis. After years of that he got a kidney and panaceas transplant in 1998 at University of Wisconsin Madison. Insurance denied the claim. Had to pay a $25K bill before hospital would even agree to do it if I remember as he was prepping for surgery. Then fight with insurance because they policy says it is covered, they approved it and then denied payment. Lawsuit. Big shots in government were involved and patient advocates. This was big. Humana lost and they had to pay. My parents moved to AZ around 2000. Mike followed in maybe 2004 because his insurance pulled out of the Chicago market. Kidney failed. Dialysis again. I moved down here in late 2007. Another transplant I don't know maybe 2008 because I drove him to Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale when he got the call to hurry in. This last year his pancreas quit. He got an insulin pump 6 months ago. Was still out of control with extreme high blood sugars. And his stomach had nerve paralysis so his food does not predictable digest. Threw up bile everyday. Which messed up his esophagus and teeth. Lost more of his foot in June and at the time was going to be a below the knee amputation but they were able to salvage. Few weeks ago he was going to get MRI follow bone scan and if not healing was to be below the knee amputation on the on leg. For a time in Chicago he was legally blind. He was partially deaf in one ear. Spells of low blood pressure. Dizziness. Vertigo. Infections. Every known complication he had. Foot wounds. Dehydration. Emergency room then hospital stays was common. I can go on but you get the gist. Oh and he had heart surgery a few years ago to repair something. Then when pancreas failed recently they said he is not a good candidate for transplant because of underlying health issues so was taken off the waiting list. I can go on."

Wow... I wasn't expecting that at all. I talked to him just over a year ago, and we joked around about me moving to AZ... he was a good guy, despite our checkered past (he threatened to hunt me and my entire family down and kill us all, at one point - lol). In later years I really enjoyed trading sarcastic banter with him. I knew he had issues, we had chatted a bit about his leg, but I had no idea it was life-threatening.

Sleep well, my friend. :(

I had many interesting chats with him in the past as a result of not being on the same "side" in wars.
The game is lessened without him.
May he find that restful sleep he deserves now.

It has been a long time since I talked to Mike, and I missed him them, even more now.
We crossed swords many times over the decades, but he was always a staple here, and always a friend.
i extend my sincerest condolences to the family.

I'm sure he'll be taking over the Afterlife soon, and that is something we all can look forward to ;)

Be at peace, my friend, and free of pain.

Sad. I only ever had two friends in RD, now one of them is gone.

He never mentioned any of this to me, but I guess I'd not spoken to him since 2006.

Definitely a giant of the game.

Like some others who have posted, I was typically fighting against him more often than on his side. With that said, it's a shame to hear the struggles in his life escalated as much as they did. RIP to one of the true antagonists of earth 2025.

Ever since I became an FR for SOL LC had a small weak spot for us despite what most people said and him having his own game ethics he was a great and very funny guy to talk to.

RIP LC.

The game needed a villain and he was more than up for filling that roll. Perhaps sometimes he overplayed it, but he was certainly not alone among this community in letting things get out of hand. Seeing more of the story of his real life makes a lot of what he did in-game a little more understandable. I fought him tooth and nail on many occasions, and a few of our conversations ended pretty curtly, but I never took any of it personally.

I regret that I never made it to the Tucson show to visit with him.

This is one of those situations where reality gets blurred because someone dies.

Can someone confirm the following about this players actions in terms of this game:

* Ran bots
* Continually broke the rules
* Drove a lot of players from the game because he didn't like them

Can you also please advise if we are to take aforementioned illness as a blanket excuse for said actions in the game over a long period of time?
