I'd especially recommend the first season of Prison Break. That was about as intense as the first season of 24, great TV. afterwards it dropped off pretty quick and repeated itself.

Otherwise I'm seeing a lot of series that I like here:
- Franklin&Bash is a great law show, quite funny. Guilty pleasure.
- Game of Thrones is great. Very recommendable
- The Newsroom, best drama I've seen in years. I just hope that in season 2 it doesn't evolve into a love sap...
- Person of Interest has a great twist. First few episodes are like so many other procedurals, but then you start getting very interesting opponents and storylines
- Sherlock is the best crime series of the last decade. 2 mini-seasons with 3 episodes of 90 minutes. Excellent portation of Sherlock Holmes to our times. Much better than Elementary
- and 2 more guilty pleasures: Castle and Republic of Doyle

I have nothing different from the ones people have posted. I would suggest watching Game of Thrones first though ;)

If you can watch 2 eps a night. It'll only take 10 nights to get through the first 2 seasons.

Then watch Walking Dead next, lol. I keep hearing good things about Homeland, I plan on watching that soon.

(spoiler, and be thankful i thought of it if you know NOTHING of homeland :P)

All of those are relatively new so you'll probably get through all 4 quickly (relatively). I believe all three have only completed 2 seasons with Walking Dead finishing up the last half of season 3 two Sundays from now.
