probably.... but if you look at the homes in detroit on realtor.com there are over 95 pages of homes under $5k. there are 10 houses on a page so thats alomost 1000 homes for sale under $5k. looks like every type of neighborhood imaginable too

And if the bank repos a house they sometimes will sell it just for the amount they have invested into it so say I bought a house for 20k paid 10k on it...the bank will sell it for 10k to get their money back and take no loss.

But Detroit is like the asshole of the US so i'm not buying that crap.

I know here in canada we have something called buyers insurance which would protect us from something like. my parents were almost hit for a 500 dollar water bill left over from the previous owner, but the buyers insurance protected them. do they have anything like that in the states?

i dunno, that sounds kinda like a lien against the house, and i kinda think that the buyer may be held accountable... oh, it was already mentioned. yeah, in the US, we're responsible for paying for the debts of the homeless people who gave us the opportunity to kick them out of their houses.
