I do agree we need to find a way to better support the game.

But the strength of the game is that it can't be bought.

IF you want 5-10 minute all explore netting. With a 95-99% chance of netting the whole reset join New Monsters

http://www.theappliance.org

It you want more grabbing freedom for potetnially higher networths, but more risk of war,

LAF, Evo, Collab, Omega, LCN, PDM, are also good calls:)

No way at all is Omega a Tier 3 alliance.

Move Omega and Sanct/COllab to tier 2

Drop Imag/PDM to tier 3....
though PDM is making a case to move up...and I expect them to be there at Tier 2 soon.

I'm looking at this from the scale of the recoding of the game.
and Omeag is solida top to bottom, should not be used as a reason to knock it. If a larger alliances wants to knock of 20 lower members to compete with omeag in netting let it, but then try to fight Omeag at equal size in a war too:)

Where the old old leaders, RT, Obsidian, Inferno, Fin etc...
would get on here...and start arguing,

sanct rage PDM and maybe 1-2 others could argue who'd round out the top 10.

I would argue the point of LCN being an "experienced" alliance.

Yes, Castejon started LCN. Just as he had helped start Omega, but He didn't really stay around much or do much. Other than recruit an incredibly stubborn group of people, with a lot of potential. Which ironically describes LCN every reset till this day heh.

The core of LCN had 0 1a experience its first reset, except for Caste. Ravi, Assassin, Brink, Elvis, Harry, Marley, Mad Hatter (he may have had some 1a experience), I joined a few weeks into it, in what was either my first or 2nd 1a reset. And a few others, but that was your core, though I'm missing a few.

Some experienced people did come in later...Eddy, archmage and others come to mind. But they were't an all start group coming to 1a like Omega was, or a split off like SOF was.

These were no name stubborn never give up, had to fight to to get every pact b/c no one knew who we were, and grabbed us like newbies.

I really think LCN's start is one of the under-told stories of the game. I really hope one of the originals still there come and do a better job than I have of sharing this.

It's almost like everyone is doing their best to avoid it!

Case in point, Let's look at a few of our "larger" alliances,

We'll go in the order of most members for this top group. Since usually, histoircally, the top allinaces are among the top 5 in total membership.

SOL-61 members
SOF-57 members
NA-59
LCN-49
LAF-45

Well, usually one reset a #1 does not make. But this is Maksino's SOL, and SOL is just a different beast when Maksino is putting full energy into this stories allinace.

SOL demolished LAF the assumed #1 going into last reset, and has jumped to the largest numbers of members in the game. Its hard to give an allinace a #1 ranking, based on one good reset, epecially after several "not memorable" ones, but SOL may be doing that exact thing.

SOF- Coming after a multi set war with ICN, who is at 19 members, this reset. So while not looking strong the last few resets, SOF has regrown its members base. Kudos to SOF. Coming out of a situation stronger speaks of a brighter future. Again, SOF has done nothing to earn a #1 status. But, 57 members, its history and heritage, and lots of energy, and superior netting skills compared to SOL...The case can;t be made as of now, but you can see it happening by end of reset if they go and grab it.

NA- 54 members. NA should be better than what they currently are. They should be netting better, and nothing about war stands out at the moment. Still a strong 59 member alliance counts for a lot in today's game. NA with strong netting performances tp to bottom, strong fighting performances, and continued imporvement in the diplomatic area's can make a case for #1 not far down the road. NA has better leadership than many realize, and I do think they can make this jump to the top alliance.

LCN-49 members Here's the deal, Top to bottom, LCN should be stronger than the above alliances. But right now they aren't showing it. Last reset was not a reset of LCN standards. At around 50 members good leadership and good politics, LCN could make the case. But they just aren't coming through right now. 5-10 more members and return to top to bottom excellence and LCN could easily be the top alliance in the game. There's just no urgency. And I freely admit my LCN bias, but even with that no way would I put them #1 right now.

LAF-45 When you net you win TNW. You compete for Ave, which you used to own, and last reset was not a good thing for LAF. LAF in my books was #1 till last resets pasting. I was shocked, I really expected a better performance, and a better fight. LAF lost the case to be called #1.

There are 3 other alliances I want to mention, that have qualities of #1, but aren't big enough.

Omega-31 memebers, best top to bottom alliance in the game in netting and war and politics right now. 45 members you'd be ranked #1.

Evolution- 36 members- won ave net impressively last erset, I admit I don't know how well you fight Nor do I know enough abourt your politics. But your netting skills and 36 members put you into the convo...50 or so members and you'd be making a case for #1.

Collab- I respect Axa. that is why Collab is here. I dno't see them on the same level as Omega/EVo....but if they were at 50 members I'd put them on the same level or better than the larger alliances.

As far as the rest of us? We got work to do. We're at 30 or under, members, which means a FS from any of the above allaiances and we're in very bad shape. I want to see who will make a move.

There's no real clear case for a #1 right now. I expect that to change by end of set. Hint, it'll be a fighting alliance, b/c the netting alliances seem to be stuck on passive. Maybe someone will prove me wrong.

So tell me who's #1, back it up with evidence, no flaming,
I've been an equal opportunist reality checker in this post. All I can say is I've never seen a group of alliances not want to be #1 so bad. It's there for the taking.

It depends on how many new allainces start,

ala an MD, Omega, SOF LCN

all these new alliances came in around the same time, 2-3 resets of each other, and you had the original rock anti rock wars...

IF enough new allainces start with mostly new players my scenario plays outm
but if the new players go to established alliances, I think you are right.

That's probably the next server war angel.

New players/alliances vs the earth2025 guard.

Personally,
for the good of the game, the earth2025 guard will need to lose that war. The war will happen, b/c we will resist their change, as an entrenched community.

and they'll "ruin it"

which will be a perfectly good thing for the game in the long run:)

I hope we get 1k new players that can make this post happen.

To answer your question, which alliance is running things?

Honestly, I'm probably wrong, but my best guess is,

No one.

You need more than 60 members to lead a coalition. And that's roughly the size of our largest alliances over the last few sets...with an exception here and there.

So you do have a few stronger alliances that may hve a few good allies, but nothing along the lines of an organized group taking down the rest of the game.

its more like 3-4 stronger alliances with good allies, that may also be allies to a few other of the stronger alliances.

There are 3-4 players capable of leading such a group, but their alliance needs to be between 100-120 first, and an ally or two at 80, I really think numbers do matter in this type of thing.

Omega is probably the top pound for pound alliance in the game right now.

If they had another 15-20 members they'd be the top alliance in the game right now.

as long as we have 120/120 turns, the game gives the advantage to larger alliances. Smaller turns stores would give mid sized alliances a better chance to use their superior skills, and would even allow an elite mid sized allinace to defeat large alliance.

The environment is not condusive to a server wide war.

There are multiple reasons for this.

The main one being the size of the server. When the server grows, the "world" wars will return.

Its going to take an alliance of 120-200 to have the firepower to lead a coalition, and create an "anti group" to take it down.

You also ahve to have the #2 alliance, the best friend, and the lapdogs, and the equivlanet for an anti groups.

Plus a few alliances that are strong enough that can swing back and forth and affect the outcome.

That requires a server that's at least double our size to pull it off.

It also requires a leader with the alliance that has the clout, the political savvy, and the intiative/time it takes to put something like this together.

There are 4 people I can think of that have these skills. If they wanted to put the time into it.
BUt the #'s aren't there to make it happen.

I just wanted to say,

Very Seldom in my decade+ around this game, has I ever had an FA sitution where the other side handled things so well, and saw to it that the right thing was done.

I am not saying this lightly.

Thanks to Vic, for doing Monsters right, and being on top of things so fast.

Very rarely have I seen FA done this way, the way it should be. No attempt to shirk responsibilty, no pointing at a pact to minimuze damage to own alliance, but rather being proactive, taking care of the other, and doing right by them.

I'm very impressed.

Wanger I don't remember the exact details...its been forever....

But Machiavello's NLS group once declared war on Monsters "because they were bored."

I think it was the following reset (maybe 2 or 3 but pretty sure the enxt reset) that a major server wide war broke out that basically involved every alliance in the game.

MD and company vs the anti MD and company type of server war.

It was evenally matched, every major alliance was involved, no one could tell who was going to win.

and out of nowhere in support of MD, the Monsters hit NLS, (No one saw it coming), and basically steamrolled em. Which freed up other alliances and had a cascadin effect on the server war.

That was the one and only time NM ever did a FS. But they made it count.

Wanger is correct.

There was a server wide war over alliance wide retals.

The new upstart MD took on the ROCK coalition over this issue which led to the first server war,

MD fought ROCK to a tie in a 1-1 (surprised everyone)
The following reset (I think) was WWIII, the original WWIII.

thousands of countries involved:)

Pang is correct, the turns are an issue.

However, the solution is not 3 turns an hour vs 2.

The solution is going back to 72/36 or wahtever the original turn storage is/was.

yes 1.5 days worth of turns is difficult before you lose turns.
But 1a is 1a....

72 turns per counry in a FS vs 120,
36 turns stores, (hell even 72) vs 120.

That will make the FS less devestating.
