I know someone from Crimea, he says they don't recognize the new Ukrainian government and says people there are closing access on streets etc to Ukraine, and inviting Russia in. I guess Crimea may become an autonomous region of Russia.

Rumor is lots of Ukrainians supprt Russia comming in, problems arise like this when your dictatorship refuse to join the UN. People can't vote down a dictatorship and now its getting out of hand, Ukraine doesnt have the capital to war Russia and whoever said after the 90s fluff in Syria is exactly right. USA will not get involved, and the rest of the world will place Sanctions on Russia and leave it at that. Doubtful much will come of it world can't War like the old days. It would just be vechiles, boats and planes wrecking fluff around the world and missiles. Slim chance of foot warfare anymore.

If Russia's interest was in protecting its "citizens" during Ukraine's crisis, why didn't they just airlift their citizens out like every other country first world in the world does when another country descends into crisis?

There is no defensible justification for Russia's invasion. People in Crimea welcoming them in or wanting to separate is not a justification.

There were a lot of victims in Kiev when the civil crowd encountered the govern forces. This could pretty much ended the same with the victims being the russians in Crimea. There are over 1.2 million of them living there and they do have a right to protest for or against whomever they want too. Sure Russia speculated this and there are more deepest interests but let`s be serious here - they do have a stronger reason compared with Irak WMDs.

And this media campaign is ... fluff. Whenever i read something about this situation, i can not forget what happen in the world in the last 20 years. Where was this media than ?
