100acres a day would mean redefining strats, and we're all over the current strats. So for one it'd be good mental exercise for us. But it also spreads out the NW and provide a larger landpool to grab from. It might also weaken the theo and MB endgame which is still too powerful.

I like the 18hr 6 turns. I play for it all the time, and you can slide that up or down six hrs each day to adjust your RL stuff for. Still, a choice to get freebies in turns or acres would be interesting, and yield new strats.

The way we war wasn't the way this game was intended. We developed it through playing. I don't think we were even supposed to be able to kill a country originally.

I like the 18hr, it gives me time to do other fluff in the day and still give me some chance of keeping up. Keeping to our circadian rhythms would be nice. If this game is about NW and rank, it's for people that can play at least once a day. If you want more players you don't want new players to realise they need to play twice or even three times a day, or they may simply move on to something quicker.

I'd like turns to store longer.

I dislike it, but it should be 50 acres, even more. Make it a part of the strats. Twenty acres is 1.2k land growth which is more of a pain in both netting and war. If it's even 10k land that's a good lot of growth to work strats around.

I like the 18hrs, coz I like to do otherstuff and only really want to play once a day when I need to. Puts pressure on how you war save for those turns or not. I wonder what it'll be like if this was increased ;OD

These are both ways that will subtley spread out the skill of players, and increase networth scores. Those six turns make a difference and all our strats are based around those extra turns of play.

What if it was 10 turns over 24 hrs?
A daily decision to decide free land or turns...

I used to use a battle-rating for each member in a couple wars, which I had a lot of fun with. Although it required fixed start and end points in the war, and relied on old GT formatting. Don't ask me about the numbers in the equation. I used excel and made em up where it felt right. This was just some inhouse fun.

Battle rating=[NLG]x[NWmod]x[Battlemod]x[Attmod]x[Defmod]x[sizechange]x[survival]x[govtmod]

[NLG]= =ABS(STANDARDIZE(prewarNW,clanAVERAGE,stdDEV))+1

[NWmod]= std deviations away from the average of membership.
So if you're much smaller or larger, this mod could be 2-3x.

[Battlemod]=(LOG((civs/hit),300))^4
Those pesky spartans need to die with one hit.

[Attmod]==EXP(std dev of members hit to clan hits to kill)

[Defmod]=EXP(std dev of members hit to enemy hits to kill)

[sizechange]==ABS(STANDARDIZE(NW change between war,Avg NW change of members,std dev))+1

[survivalindex]= Cant remember but something to do with number of members on both sides and NW sizes stdised somehow...

[govtmod]=Govt mod (fixed arbitrary)
0.95
0.95
1.05
1.1
0.95
0.9
0.95
1.3

I have the spreadsheet if ya want heheh!

Recall is one of the biggest changes to the game. It's amazing. I'd like to say it's too powerful, but I'm looking from the perspective of a demo-techer. If I wasn't a techer, I'd be doing this multiple times a day.

I had this problem in the alliance server.
I needed to gain the land to support my upkeep, but had to drop it again during a war. It almost got me into trouble because I couldn't.

I like the use of HPK and civs. You can still read alot into them.

You could argue similar points for our networth indicators. You can't tell who is stockpiling better, because you can't tell when they started. Each strat would be fitting into a different niche during different stages of the NW game. War would be the same, and we'd all be making our best judgements and interpretations based on what we can see or know about about government composition, prices on the market and stage of the game.

The simpler the better for an ingame monitor.

I'd actually like clans to see all spy-ops as unretalliable (specifically those offensive ones). There won't be any need to monitor them for foreign affairs work (one less job). The amount of ops available (50), the cost in terms of growth lost (both spying turns and spending resources to build and maintain), and the new level of threat (offensive spy-ops to help succeed a retal, or prevent weakening the clans ability to retal or whatever else you can think of...) would bring a new tactical play to the alliance server.

There would be reasons to use almost all these ops. Making them more powerful and based on the skill of your own country as enshula and dragonlance suggest would enhance this. I like all those spy-ops available. Just wish there was more reason to use them.

Your clan could team up to slow down a clan from making retals by bombing airbases, banks and demoralising but there's a toss up at how many spies it'll cost or start a counter-spy-attack.

Sabotaging peoples stockpile to try and knock them out of the race could be a lethal part of the game. Alliances would develop nice strong spy/anti-spy strats and teams. The recall pretty much shuts this down, and would become a tactic to evade this.

Spy wars could be a lot of fun when this gets out of hand, but it'll stabilise as we figure out how to use them to help us better gain. Netgainers can simply keep gaining, and spy players won't have to worry about death (yet).

With the new ghost land, we're grabbing more in wars.
This change is going to get me killed. Reminds me, I still wanna bring back that LIFO vs FIFO discussion... haven't forgotton that. That was another change that impacted on how I played.

silverbeet Game profile

Three thoughts:
1) hidden tags
that only reveal when you hit them, and it's your clan in boxcar that reveals it.

2) CS indestructible in BR and maybe even AB's (but maybe not to make them more useful... )
like the nukes! Would make wars much more enjoyable, as you could make a comeback.

3) I've just encountered a situaton where the dropping land thing is adversely affecting me.

4) bring back conditioning tech
back then we didn't understand it, but now... it's changes like these that require retweaking by players that may keep them playing. Changes undergo adaptation and re-adaptation which lasts a few sets, but as we get more efficient in it, it becomes the norm, by then it gets boged down in safety rules (clan policy).

Hoping to see some discussion here on these ideas...

We are the last 400 earth players that'll fix the game. So thanks for making it back for us and giving us some of those last 10 yrs back.

The changes are nice, but I do think we are stuck in an aged clan structure that should change first, and if not bring rules in that guide those changes. So far the changes have been tweaks to improve on old ideas. Bravo to you guys, I love you all for it.

But if you're willing to do so much, I'd also like you guys to consider more dramatic changes, each new round can be reset if those didn't work. Maybe you could improve on it the next. Or just maybe, you take it off and try a new one, and build up a cycle of different variations. This would be like that magic the gathering game, with new spells each reset. Entirely new ideas, suggestions that everyone is putting into the hat. Infact, make a lottery out of that...

No doubt you've got that planned someday. I just think sooner, before we all really give up. It just doesn't feel like these minor tweaks are doing enough for all the effort you guys are putting into for 400 people. If you get what I mean.

Having said that, it's all us players that need to change in some way. We all know what happened in the history of earth, but we still cling on to the idea of netting without ever being hit, or warring to the absolute redeath. Restarting is a pain because we all do that every round. Netting without ever losing out is only an idea. Only an optimal and never achievable scenario, yet we believe it is... Integrate them somehow, and teach the new players the new concepts, and maybe we'll last another 15yrs. It'll be 2025 then.

Making tags hidden would be much cooler (and not spyable). Boxcar could be set up to discover tags as you hit or something. There would be more hitting, maybe in a conservative way which would encourage growth of new strats, while you were discovering who belonged to which tag. There would be rivalries between countries rather than between clans which always eventuates into war.

It's about our moral conscience and the greed for better land in a game.

If we did that, we'd have to look at our farming "rules" and how we handle retaliations. When we accept 1:1/3:2 etc, do we condone farming a single country? We deliberately have no perspective for the otherside because it's just a game.

I liked it to post ingame stuff like market sales and the rest of the clan can see what is being purchased within the clan or not. Was much more useful with a LIFO market of course...
clan members could check in and see if it was ours on and clear out everything below to force a sell.

should be, but lifo is more fun.
I'm sure Swirve used to be LIFO, and so far this new game has felt like FIFO.

I really do think LIFO is better for this game, if it's not already. That's the only part of the game I like playing because we can't grab each other.

I thought everyone played alliance and just mucked around in the others, coz their number one country is 1a, although the restrictions can't let them do strat calcs, or release their inner demons.

Restricting SS/PS to one would stop farming altogether.

Yup exactly, if there is a way to reach 100k acres with DR'd opponents taken into account, you could get another 200mil bushels, increase your private market to 65 mil units.
And not compete on the public which could clear out.

Although that could potentially change the entire endgame landscape.
