suiciding is a part of the game mechanics
-- it allows players who're bored out of their minds to express such boredom
-- it allows players who are being farmed (or were being farmed) like no tomorrow to get back at those people (even if its outside the politically accepted 72h retal window)
-- it encourages running some defense as opposed to no defense

Although a server full of suiciding is bad, the occassional suicide here and there is ok. There really shouldn't be new game mechanics put into play to counteract these activities. Every player knows he/she has the potential to be attacked at any moment - it's part of the game - there's no need to give extra special protection for people who want to net, or people who wantto explore all-day.

I still think LaF is missing the point here.

PDM isn't really harboring suiciders; nor ar they asking you run 17mil turret defenses. I think what they're upset about is that you place all the responsibility on PDM and stick to your guns about your policies. I think that's why PDMers are upset. I think what they want to see is a reasonable resolution that doesn't require PDM disbanding or PDM being LaF's landfarm for a set or two. Asking for reps from PDM for 31kA at this point is kind of ridiculous given the fact that nearly half of them are restarts, and the other half have expended stock on the war.

If LaF is going to encourage the existence of smaller alliances, they're gong to have to show some generosity when dealing with this situation. It's unreasonable to demand for that large amount of reps given what has transpired. Granted, it has ruined some of your members' sets, but is it going to benefeit the community to have an entire alliance essentially quit because of 1 suicider? Is that what LaF wants?

(NB: I'm not affiliated with PDM in anyway)

Not that I condone suiciding; I just never quite understood why it has to responsibility lies solely with the original tag for a suicider. IIf LaF is so concerned with suiciders, they should be more than willing to take the time to kill said suicider. Instead, they seem to be happily netting away as per usual waiting to be suicided on some more and simply demanding for reps and hoping the other alliance will get rid of the suicider. Yes, the alliance the suicider came from should be responsible; but that shouldnt mean the alliance that got suicided on can just sit on its fat ass and enjoy the show. If you're truly concerned about protecting your members, you should be participating in eliminating the threat.

Then again I never did understand the politics behind treehugging alliances. I mean, you whine and whine about being suicided on and just continue to sit there as that suicider is still very much alive and kicking. Did it ever occur to you that the suicider might strike again? I mean it fine to go bug the alliance for reps, but being complacent and placing all the responsbility on the other alliance is just silly. That suicider is a threat to well-being of your own netting experience; go kill it before it strike again.

LaF, this arm-chair policy on suiciding of yours is kind of silly. You might want to consider revising it.

llaaar

you know whats interesting is your country is still alive despite it being legitimately killed via GS

newsfeeds indicate exactly 1 missile were sent at you during the last kill run on you

so isn't it cheating to ask for reinstatement of your country when your country was not affected? o wait, i forgot it's ok if it benefeits llaar or NA (my bad)...

I was asleep when all this happened. Although I'm disappointed to see bug abuse happening; however, bugs can't be fully confirmed without sufficient data. As such, I'm not surprised several people were able to send massive amounts of missiles.

llaar before you start pointing fingers at an entire alliance did the following thoughts ever cross your mind when you assessed the situation?

1. Perhaps, the bug abusers merely saw something strange in the newsfeed and wanted to investigate. Upon personal investigation of the matter, they promptly reported it to the admins.

2. Simple math tells me that a handful of people does not equate an entire alliance [edit]of 70[/edit].

Seriously, reading your posts is like reading propaganda. Everything has to have its own spin. Somehow everything is either llaar-centric or NA-centric.

Let's be objective about this and give the benefeit of the doubt to those individuals. The admins have already taken action on the issue. It's time to drop the issue and carry on with life.

SOL declares ceasefire on NA!!

We killed you too many times not to war with us. We tried to stop and yet you continue to die. Now you shall feel our wrath when we outnet you with our stock. We will never war until we have seen this netting through to the very end. This netting can only end in one way, with your complete defeat.

:D

So basically everyone who owns a BBQ and a good supply of propane in the states owns a WMD?

this is quite intriguing.... then again i'm not overly surprised. The American legal system is going to put majority of its population either in jail or send them bankrupt because of their no-downloading nonsense.

L:L isn't the standard for unpacted countries... it's 1:1 escalating (or so i thought)

So this was is a giant misunderstanding... well, should be fun to watch nonetheless.
