It pays off.
Yes having all those acres unbuilt for so many turns is inefficient but the extra acres gained more than makes up for the lost efficiency (usually).

As a side note; I could pretty much keep up NW wise without batch exploring early in the set, but by the end of the set would start falling behind because of the extra acres gained by those batch exploring.

Yes, it's called batch exploring and is quite common. The idea is just before your explore rate goes down you explore as many turns as possible. This gives you ~100 turns @ 40 acres (or whatever your current rate is) per turn instead of 1 @ 40, 3 @ 39, 3 @ 38, 4 @ 37 ....... and so on.

It depends on which server you're playing (more turns = more acres) and, as Drinks pointed out, whether you intend to rebuild MBs at the end of the set.

Yes.
The advantages for each gov/strat remain until the first gov change. After that the advantages of a gov change needs to be weighed against the disadvantage of loosing 14% (or more if you're big) of everything you have that can't be put on the market.

When you go to the create a country page at the top it should give the option to create a country with the same name you had last set for game A or create a new country name that must start at the bottom (B/C).

He had that 20k acres since this thread was started. I was kind of surprised he was able to keep it. I really thought someone he had grabbed more than a few times would have suicided him near the end of the set. If I had done that I'm sure I would have been suicided.

It's kind of like flipping a coin ... if you flip 9 times and 6 times heads came up and three times tails came up what are the odds for heads coming up on the next flip? .... it's still a 50/50 chance of heads coming up.

Maybe you have just been unlucky. Also, with SDI you don't even get the same chance each time because every missile lowers SDI a bit.

Pick a strat. since it is so late in the set don't expect too much though.
I'd say go Commie Indy.
Switch gov to Commie
Set production to 100% turrets
Tax rate 35%
Destroy those res & M Bases!
Build 60 CS
Build 60 farms
Build 20 CS
Build 100 Indys
build 20 CS
Sell bushels on private market when low on cash
Sell max military on public market at end of each day
Buy a few k troops & tanks
This late in the set you probably only need 160 to 180 CS total
Build CS in lots of 20
EVERYTHING ELSE SHOULD BE INDIES !!!!!
Use bonus points for extra turns
Buy techs, first concentrate on indy tech (140%-150%), then military (89%-90%)

I pretty much stayed in A too, but didn't become immortalized (make top 5) until the very last set @ OMac. Unfortunately, the wayback machine doesn't have that one.
Yes, it was harder to make top 5 back then. Besides the cheating and bug exploiting there were more players in each game.


I don't know how the changes @ EE have affected your strats but changing the max sell rate & the addition of the reduce expenses bonus have both helped CI to be more competitive end of set. ;D

Hmmmmnn, lets see ... you were hit 3x (he was wrong to triple tap you), you attempted to retal multiple times (All my retals), then you launched 2 chems at him (sounds like you hit him more than 3x). Sounds to me like the only thing you can do is pray that he doesn't get ticked off and use you as his personal land farm for the rest of the set.
What you can do to keep this from happening n e x t set ... run a stronger country .... look around yourself on the scores page, if you have more land than anyone around you (landfat) you need more def ... if you are landfat and can't buy def expect to get hit ... don't attempt a retal unless you are going to get your land back (spend everything you can if you have to).

That depends entirely on how good you are and how good they are. Rob runs a theo and I'd be willing to bet he could retal any commie out there ... early or late game.

caffeineaddict is right. Pick a strat. Pick a gov. Check some of the threads for that strat. Then if you are still unsure about something post a follow up here. Many of the strategists tire of posting the same advice over and over again. IMHO

you have more troops than I would carry this early in the set unless they are selling for more than jets/turrets ... even then I wouldn't produce an amount close to my jet/turret count simply because production is the same for troops/jets/turrets but NW and fighting power are less (.5 NW per troop vs .6 NW per jet/turret ... fighting power = 1 per troop vs 2 per jet/turret)

As I said those are old formulas From 2025.
According to QZs post that Mapleson referred to, allies units do not get your gvt bonus or tech bonus. He doesn't mention the @ war bonus.
Strange though, that the spreadsheet I have with those formulas has qz, & slag written all over it. Maybe they decided to change things up a bit.

hmm that's a possibility of 182 turns from posting/clicking bonus. Maybe I've been using those wrong. With those turns I could possibly explore another 1k acres.
