No wonder this game is dead. A big clan tries to police the server with a foggy retal policy and when faced with resistance from a tiny clan they stomp em out. Enjoy your dead game. I quit.

most clans have a policy of... talk to the other clan's FA before missiling them into the ground...

oh and also, most clans have a policy of L:L 150% in the last 3 weeks of the set and 200% in the last 2 weeks of the set.

As long as people continue making more money and house costs keep going up... generally people vote for the status quo.

The NDP in BC has been noted for spending a lot of money... to their own detriment.

About the penny thing... price rounding only occurs when a consumer uses cash. If it's an electronic transaction, no rounding occurs. So... if you get into a situation where they round down (0.01, 0.02) then pay with cash! And you will screw the govt of their tax pennies. If it's a rounding up situation (0.03, 0.04) then pay electronically and you wont lose your 2 pennies. So, there's that.

As for not accepting pennies as legal tender, this will never happen. Businesses still accept 1 dollar and 2 dollar bills in Canada even though they have been replaced for a long long time.

There is only a short period in the set where a select few countries in this game can "outrun" a clan in retals. You might be able to outrun a country... but that doesn't guarantee you can outrun a whole clan from a retal. So yes, it happens when a clan lets 5-10 retals slip through simply because LAF is too good with their techer reseller stuff early in the set, but after the second week, any clan worth their salt should be able to hold their own against the top countries on the server.

Archaic says: "Its generally impossible to outrun a retal from a midfeed target, all you're really accomplishing is hurting your finish and your targets finish by forcing both of you to buy a ton of military. Doing something that deliberately hurts both sides is spiteful and rude and hence frowned upon."

I completely agree with this... and more. When you boost your defence and try to outrun a retal, well... the retal returns scale to your nw. Any clan worth their salt will be able to retal you and you'll invariably lose more than you took. On top of that, youll have a ton of new military which makes it even more difficult for you.

How is something that becomes widely used because of a war any better than something that becomes widely used because of slavery? Are you ok with calling Vietnamese people "gooks" because of the war as well? Why would you call normal Vietnamese people Charlie when VC refers to a group of guerilla fighters anyway. I understand the feeling stirred up by "nip" or "hun" are not as strong as those of "fluff" but that doesn't mean they're not racist terms. What is acceptable for a soldier to say on the front lines in the heat of a major war is also very different to what normal dialogue should involve.

The difference I suppose is of the social tradition. Some racial slurs are more offensive than others... there is no denying it. Some racial slurs cut deeper than others and there lies the difference between fluff and nip.

My personal rule is this. If the pejorative terms makes fun of or attacks someone's physical appearance, it's pretty offensive. Less offensive, to me, would be hun, nip, charlie, jerry, etc. It'd be equivalent to calling Canadian's a bunch of maple syrup lumberjacks or whatever. I mean, I get it that SOME people might get offended by those terms... but in this PC world (esp in America right now) I'd be surprised if some people didn't get offended that i called them Americans.

well... America didn't lose the Vietnam war because their support back home wasn't strong enough. They lost the war because of geographical ignorance and the feeling of superiority. They were not prepared for that region... a place where superior tech counts for nothing. This is a lesson not learned for the Afg war as well.

Anyways, back to the Manhattan Project. It's not fair to say that German scientists emigrated to America to work on the bomb since the chief catalyst for the theoretical physics behind it all, Einstein, was not invited to the party. So far as I can find, Klaus Fuchs was the only German (there may be more) but ahead of him was Oppenheimer, David Bohm, Leo Szilard, Niels Bohr... none German. Maybe Einstein wasn't invited because he opposed the theory of quantum mechanics (despite having begun its study).

As for "nip" being as derogatory as "fluff." The comparison is not sound. One is bore out of slavery as a pillar of American early society, one of immense strife and vicious racism. I mean, it has defined the relationship between white and black people ever since in one way or another. "Nip" has none of those things. It's just something American soldiers called the Japanese. It's not much different from calling the German's Jerry or Kraut; in Korea and Vietnam it was Charlie (Victor Charlie). Nip is just short for Nippon. It doesn't have nearly the amount of baggage as "fluff" does... one way I know this is because you don't see anyone talking about it because it's a non-issue.

Clans that defend themselves gain respect. Retal 95% of the hits against your clan and youll have your respect...; and pacts come with that.

Nelson Mandela <- Successful black leader of a country.

Is this considered a bonehead comment? Are we to strip you of any respect anyone ever had for you? You'd obviously find some semantic argument about how these things are different... so ill just lay back and let you.

I don't consider forum bullying as serious as every other type of bullying, and here is why.

In a schoolyard, for instance, the person being bullied has no choice but to be at school thus forcing him/her to be a victim to the bully. You could hide in the bathroom or try to skip school... but in that case a bully has forced you to alter your life making you a prisoner.

In serious online bullying (like in the case of Amanda Todd), she was bullied by someone posting a topless photo of her all over the place, really torturing a young person to the point where she took her own life. In that case, there is no refuge from the bully/psychopath. This is esp dangerous because she was so young and could not deal with this problem as an adult would have.

To equate what happens here (on an internet forum for a dying web based game) to the same type of bullying really does a disservice to those who are really and truly bullied. If one of the participants to this forum hacks your facebook or starts calling you late at night to taunt you, THAT would be bullying. Trolling is not bullying. It's very easy to avoid a troll, don't come to this forum... it's a nonessential part of this game and nonessential to your life. Also, don't feed the trolls.

I hope that you can understand this distinction.

I think it's interesting that the side who wants all abortion eliminated happens to be the side that also wants no government involvement in anything...

Difficult to control all women with a small government, don't you think?

I'm going to explain the title "Cabin in the Woods" and why some are saying it sounds like a "chick flick". If you've seen the movie (which, im not sure why you'd be talking about it if you havent...) then you'd know that the whole scenario of having the 5 archetypical teenagers in a house in an isolated place is what all teenie bopper horror/date movies have in common.

-alpha male
-whore (hottie with a body)
-stoner (comedic relief)
-Intelligent guy (who happens to be half black)
-and the goodie two shoes virgin

It's all spelled out in the movie what is going on and why these 5 types of people are in the scenario. It's supposed to be a little comedic, a LOT fantasy, and totally different.

BUT, I guess there will always be people who don't appreciate highly ranked movies...

I mean, I hated the most recent Batman movie... I thought it was unpolished and disjointed... almost as if whoever edited the movie thought it would be a crime to discard anything that was filmed.

I enjoyed Cabin in the Woods... because there is nothing else like it. Frodo, if you wish to watch movies that follow a cookie cutter pattern, watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre or some crap like that. Joss Whedon is OUR generation of directors who will change the way that we watch movies. He's not in it for the money or he'd have never done Firefly, Dollhouse, or Cabin in the Woods. He did take on the Avengers... and I think he did quite well.

Honestly... I'd like to see a horror film by J.J. Abrams. That dude is doing great things.

Consider this... in the states that legalized abortion 40 years ago- 20 years after roe vs wade the crime rate dropped dramatically.

Those who lived in the lower echelons of socio economic conditions in dangerous neighborhoods or drug addled homes now had an "out" when a pregnancy in the house occurred. Is it worth the price? That's for each to decide on his/her own.

All I know is I'll never consider trying to talk my wife into having an abortion ever... but I know there are some situations where a child should not be forced to live in...

so i guess, Klown and I agree. !!

One more thing... Obama isn't taking anyone's guns away as long as they are not fully automatic armor piercing 100 cartridge magazine holding "fluff your mother up" type of guns. Tell me what legitimate use you have for that kind of gun. Hunting deer?

If you have a .22 rifle or something completely reasonable for shooting deer or other game, Obama won't come near you... be reasonable.

Ok, here is why he cannot go through the "appropriate channels." Jon Stewart rips this whole thing wide open with some huge truth bombs.

http://www.businessinsider.com/...-gun-control-obama-2013-1

-Rep. Todd Tiahrt, who in 2007 suggested that mayors shouldn't try to trace the source of illegal guns because the ATF is "going after them 24/7."

-The ATF hasn't had a full time Director since 2006, For instance, its current director, B. Todd Jones, doubles as the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota. "You're telling me this dude ... has another full-time job?" Stewart quipped. "He's just moonlighting?"

-The Senate hasn't confirmed an ATF director since 2006. The body has to confirm the position because of a 2006 provision inserted into a Patriot Act renewal by Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner.

"I don't have footage of that. ... I do have footage of Sensenbrenner from that year, accepting the NRA's coveted Defender of Freedom Award," Stewart said.

Stewart pointed out other problems—like how the ATF is prohibited from creating a federal registry to track gun sales. It also is barred from releasing information from its firearms trace database to anyone other than a law enforcement agency or prosecutor.

Stewart then revealed that the Congressman who authored the amendment with so many limits on the ATF was the aforementioned Todd Tiahrt. Stewart said the amendment couldn’t be worse if the NRA wrote it themselves."

Stewart got word from his "messenger pigeon" that, indeed, the NRA "did write that law."

I don't understand why people put hunting rifles, handguns, and automatic assault rifles in the same category: "guns." In Switzerland I can pretty much guarantee you that almost all of those guns are hunting rifles and not automatic.

Anyways... why is a low life expectancy rate a bad thing? I've never understood why, as a rational and godless nation, would we want our elderly to live til they are 125. It really hurts the economy you know... in terms of food, medicare, and any other kind of social service. America has a lower life expectancy rate... count your blessings dudes.

i get all of my american news from jon stewart because i know what he is... a comedian. He's not meant to take it too seriously and will present the important stuff with humour. The problem with news channels now is... well exactly that... there are channels that do ONLY news. I remember when CNN was the only network doing that... now FoxNews has it too. Nate Silver said it best I believe (here he's referring to the Daily Show): "People criticize this show maybe and say, ‘Oh, it’s entertainment masquerading as news,’ but a lot of NEWS is really entertainment masquerading as news. …"

that goshdarned right.
