I've been DHing like crazy on LG's I should totally overrun.

This last one had:
Turrets 120,433
Tanks 11,758
0% def bonus
no weapons

so at most thats what, 143,949 turrets worth, plus at most 2 def allies= 215,923 def power.

I sent 275,000 Jets and lost. WTF? I've bounced a shiet load of LG's here, how much do you have to oversend?

Your defensive allies can up to double your strength, it is not capped at 50%. So he could have had as much as 288k turrets worth of defense.

isn't that by including your def bonus, gov bonus, and weapon tech on their 25% each assisting you? If he had no gov, def, or weapon tech bonus', how could it have been doubled?

You are assuming that the two allies have identical militaries to your target. That is almost never the case. They send 25% of their available military to help, and their help can at most double their defensive ally's defensive strength. If their militaries are larger than your target, then they will help him by more than 25% of his strength since 25% of their strength is more than 25% of his strength.

"A defensive alliance builds a solid foundation to protect each of the partners. Any time you are attacked, 25% of of your allies' forces will come to assist in your defense. However, Your total battle strength cannot be more than doubled through allies, so having allies at your strength is most beneficial in the long run."

Looks like max 2*(your defence) to me!

It is potentially doubled yes.

To answer your opening question Serpentor, you should allow 10% oversend also to be sure, otherwise I understand that the likihood of a break reduces as close to the exact mathematical advantage you get.

In the old game wasn't it that an ally would send 25% of available units, but no more than 25% of the actual defending country itself? Maybe I've been remembering incorrectly this whole time.

Yeah, was probably me. I was stunned by one failure the other day I simply had to test again with a higher ps.

Anyways I guess I must have just recalled incorrectly the last 2 sets here in primary and not noticed until now. Honestly it's been ages since I ran a proper LGing strat in alliance, usually all exploring.

BooHoo, if it bothers you that much, make sure you're a dictatorship with 150% weapons tech, then, you won't need to send so much to break the enemies defenses.

I have encountered similar results. This is seriously puzzling, but I think it probably has something to do with the game's percentages being modified in favor of defenses, probably due to all the whining of the netters that play here from the Alliance game and expect to have the same "protection" as wearing a "tag" does in the alliance game.

Are you a dictator with 150% weapons tech? Some other guy in this thread suggested that strategy, I can't really remember his name though.

Ueah, that would be me. I always have maxed weapons tech on my dictatorship. This way I can landgrab from my scores list with relative impunity.
I don't need anger management, people need to stop pissing me off!
