People tend to be afraid of low probability deaths- the lower the probability, the more likely it is to be in the news cycle, and the more afraid people are. It's almost like the news cycle causes routinely causes undue panic over minor occurrences.
If you give a man some fire, he'll be warm for awhile. If you set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
