Because if it didn't exist, the standard model would be wrong.

Which would mean: back to the drawing board!

so for the standard model to be right this needs to exist, but if its existance wasnt confirmed before the 4th, how did we get the standard model?

ok so basically they knew the standard model worked and existed, because well, thats reality, but the particle that defined mass's existance couldnt be confirmed because we didnt have the technology TO confirm it?

During HS i skipped out on physics because sophomore year i went to 3 diffrent HS, so i got logic x3 but no algebra. Managed to get a high enough grade between all the transferring and on my test scores to but me in junior level math (intermediate algebra) with NO beginning algebra. You can see where the problem occured.

So for somebody that has never taken physics, I actually understand this, which i think is pretty cool.
