Hi all,

After a GREAT deal of discussion amongst a number of EE contributors, we have decided to release the posts which were made on the Collab clan forums between April and June of 2010.

We've been debating this for a few days, but our belief is that not releasing the post will do more harm to this situation than releasing them. There are currently a number of quotes floating around news organizations and the web, and we'd like to provide a complete set of posts & threads to the public. This will allow readers and the media to at least see a complete picture of the posts, rather than only having access to a handful of them which may be taken out of context.

Had some of these posts not been leaked to the media already, I don't believe we would be releasing them today.

We have cleansed ALL user information (poster name, email addresses, etc) and replaced them with anonymized information, such as Poster_1 or [User] in some cases. We felt that if this information is released to the media, we should ensure that it is presented in as complete of a package as possible, and that none of our other users' information is put at risk.

If any of our users have any questions, you know how to get a hold of me and the other staffers. There will be some stuff posted on our blog later this afternoon.

yes, we chatted with a lawyer familiar with the subject matter before doing this, and we are well within our legal rights to do so.

like I said, we just want to ensure that this information isn't cherry picked from the few quotes made available to one media organization. I was watching some news last night and already saw the Telephone effect happening (purple monkey dishwasher) with the quotes.
This was a very difficult decision and we wish it wasn't one we had to make in the first place.

great. at least everyone will get to see the info for what it is and not be forced to read whatever spin the media puts on it.

This is a difficult time for everyone involved and I hope that people are taking Jared Loughner's parents into consideration.

Figures the media points out he likes Drowning Pool, but doesn't notice his reference to ICP. Good to have context to his comments. In this case it reinforces my belief that he just really was losing it. Some of those rants are bizarre.

Im gonna be honest here you guys threw a LOT more hype on those posts then they deserve. i certainly wouldnt call that stuff disturbing. very very odd, but nothing indicative of someone who was about to go on a shooting spree. honestly if i hadnt known he was an american i would have just as well assumed he was from another non english country and english wasnt his primary langauge.

thats my opinion.

don't think i can get into the context of those threads, because i pretty much refuse to watch the youtube videos that he posted. meh, call me crazy. and it seems that some of the pictures were missing.
