Scorpion is not a sega character. Mortal Kombat was on NES. Actually Mortal Kombat was on most all platforms and was created by midway games which was sold to Warner Bros in the late 2000's.

wrong! Mortal Kombat was on SNES, not NES, and it was originally a Sega title! It was ported to SNES later (and with no blood either (but you could unlock a blood cheat)).

Technically sNES is still NES :-P

Wrong! It was first in the arcade. Sega didn't create the game or characters! Scorpion is not a sega character! Sonic the hedgehog is but not scorpion!

I was going to point out that Mortal Kombat was developed by a third party like many Nintendo games, and released on multiple platforms (Arcade, then Sega and SNES simultaneously IIRC) -- so if you rule it out, you'd have to rule out a whole slew of game characters.

Then I looked at your country list and couldn't find any other characters who come from third party games. There's a couple references that I don't get, but every one that I can identify belongs to a game that Nintendo developed in house.

if strictly nintendo's chars then mario, luigi, yoshi, koopa, zelda, link, samus aram, rygar (don't think that games was published on other platforms), etc.

It woulda been easier :-P (a) kicks (b) punches.. acompanied by stereotypical nes movement which wasn't that bad compared to Snes the generic background would throw people off though :-P
