The AB/BR building destruction changes are bad in alliance as well, imo. They are just bad everywhere. The rest of the changes are for the most part good.

I would like the ABs/BRs to be changed to a limitation by total buildings rather than specific buildings.

Well it doesnt affect Express that way for sure. I have played two resets with these grabbing changes and this server is still easy to grab in.

Primary and tournament could be effected that way, but I think we need some time to see if, once everyone has adapted to the new changes, it actually makes that much of a difference. These 5-10k acre techers who just stock and then buy jets to ruin peoples resets, their task certainly got less appealing and that is great for the game. And that has taken land away from the game very visibly when they also nuke/get nuked and when they drop the land they grab. This stops them from dropping land too.

So again I think the criticism should be focused on what we know is bad for the game, and that is that ABs and BRs are now useless for maiming as long as the strats are not matched, which makes no sense and removes options and complexity from warfare, which is definatly bad in every way.

Primary server always grows during the reset and you cant blame these changes on that drop in numbers since this is the first reset they have been active from the start.

Tournament grabbing has been problematic for years, and all xp often wins, its the one solo server where all-xp can compete.

But either way what I said makes more sense if you understand the grabbing changes I guess. Maybe it will take a few sets for everyone to adapt to them. I'm not sure I have fully. But it's an interesting change that forces people to make new considerations in a game that had grown stale.

Says the american in a goldilocks timezone. From a european who walled 2k hits twice; putting in that kind of effort is certainly not sustainable for anyone not in a goldilocks timezone and/or retired/unemployed.

There are three problems here:
1. It's possible to wall 2k+ hits
2. It's takes an extreme effort, such that it is uncomparable to at least any game I've ever played, except perhaps for the professionals playing them.
3. The size of the effort varies to a great deal with which timezone you are in, thus making the game more burdensome for people in the non-favored time-zones.

#2 and #3 would be partially amended by this change, and it would bring money to the devs, thus potentially motivating investment in time and money in this game. I therefore welcome it. But as a european player I think it would be nice to be able to live a somewhat normal life also while warring in a server with tags without feeling that Im letting my online friends down and losing the war because Im not neglecting my IRL commitments/friends/family/sleep.

Yeah everyone agrees that BRs and ABs shouldnt be subjected to these building specific limitations, but talking about it as "the change is bad" is just misinformed considering the plethora of other changes that has been made simulataneously to all aspects of the war room. Some of these changes are logical, good and making the game far more realistic than it was before.

No... The changes are not horrible. They are necessary. The fact that ABs and BRs were included in the building specific limitations is a bad choice tho. Thats a very small portion of the change. That part is bad, yes, and should ideally be changed to a limitation based on total buildings rather than specific buildings.

And yes Im talking about this game. In this game prior to the change if I controlled luxembourg I could obliterate NATO, China, Russia, Japan, India and Brazil in 20 minutes. This WAS unrealistic amounts of damage and that is what this change was meant to amend. The BRs and ABs were not ideally impacted.

If a game makes me unable to sleep at night Im gonna be less likely to continue playing it. I don't think I'm unique in this regard. :)

Utopia has that mechanic, everyone uses it and almost everyone is happy with it as far as I have heard. I don't know when they started with that but I do know that babysitting was forbidden before it same as it always have been here. That game is also much more successful and vibrant than EE right now, so I very much doubt that copying good implementations in their game is gonna be bad for EE. :)

There are specific limitations that can be imposed so that its not just a way to play 2 or 10 countries. For instance you can make it so you can only babysit one country and that each country can only have a babysitter for a maximum of say 10 days per reset, only in tagged servers (ofc) and maybe even that the country owner can't login while the country is being sat without discontinuing the sitting 'session'.

Either way I think if kills stay at 5-50 second to execute and no restart bonus I dont see how this game is bareable(at least for anyone who wars) for anyone who isn't retired, unemplyed or in the sweet spot time zones without it.

Then why should a european or asian play to war in this game over games in which you are on an equal footing with americans or other timezone players?

When I war I can sometimes play my turns while at home during the evening, if Im really lucky, but mostly its at night or at work in the afternoon. I always have to wall when Im at work or should be asleep, tho, never fails. Most warchats are inconvienient for me because Im European. I make do; I lose sleep, I try to change my schedule, I neglect friends and family. I can do this for breif periods of time, but I think its utterly sick that a text based game that does not give you cash prices demand this of players from some timezones. And theres no way I will play to war primarily due to this, even tho I can enjoy it for a week or two every now and again.
The normal warchat times are convenient for east coast americans and I guess the time zones close to it. Potentially a few asians live in some sweetspot where the american evening chat coincides with their morning routine and the american morning chat is during their early evening?

Especially with the removal of the restart bonus you have no choice but to wall if you want to play for war.

Nerf walling or make it far less important as I been saying for years now, so people can feel they are effective without waking up in 12 seconds to wall at 3am or changing their work schedule for a warchat in a text based online game with 300 players in. Or the babysitting is most certainly needed.

Remember also that if everything is cheap, like taunts, name changes, babysitting etc, people will start buying credits, and the first purchase is the most important one, because after the first one they will almost certainly make a second one. So make it cheap and more people will make that first purchase, and it will feel like far less of a burden.

As I posted in the other thread;

I like everything but the prices. They are a bit steep.

I think the prices are like 3-4 times as high as I would expect to spend on s game like this. You might make more money by setting them lower.

Permanent premium costs 35 dollars a year for instance. It is also kind of a must if you want to compete netting wise in 1a or primary, not for war since stonewalling is so much more important than everything else in being effective at war as an individual. But permanent bonuses are extremely important in long resets.

I think that instead of making it an expensive must-buy for netters it should feel like a bargain for everyone, so that everyone uses it. That way you get probably the same amount of money and people will be happy not to have to bother with the bonus voting. $35 a year is for sure something almost everyone can afford but since its payed in likely in $25 dollar installments its noticeable and frankly it shouldn't be.
Personally I'll gladly keep seeing ads and pay for premium just for the bonus thingy if it becomes significantly cheaper(drop it by ~80%, imo), that solution would bring you more money as well, probably

Use Patron status for Ad removal maybe and keep it as expensive?
Patron should give 1 year premium maybe?

Right now I see Premium as an expensive must-have and Patron as a complete waste of money. This is not really the feeling you want players to have about your shop items. Its not good for the game or for your wallet. But it's a work in progress i guess.

Pay for babysitting is the only way to combine any hopes of being effective at war with most jobs and/or living in a time-zone other than the 2-3 most common timezones of EE people. It would be a change that made warring more inclusive. Either that or removing walling/kills.

Its a little bit too one dimensional if that is the only option on anyone not sharing your strat. I guess that killing was always the gold standard in express but actually with the grabbing changes it could actually make ABs and BR-maiming a viable option against jetters since their gains are limited by their buildings, and thus if only the grabbing change was made it would add a new dimension to warfare in express. A needed one at that.

There are 3 servers without bots. Tournament is decent and the strats are almost balanced, except maybe farmer usually. Primary is epic but maybe not balanced, tho you do hit players and only players all set long, which is what you want right?

It makes total sense except you can get 3 techers on your team to leech to you and it would give tech worth at least 15-20m nw. You can do that without aid and it will accomplish the same thing, yet somehow its considered fair according to everyone.

You can read about them on the announcement board to interpret it yourself. Basically there are new limitations to ghost acres and building capture that is based on which buildings you share with the target. On top of that theres a hard ceiling on how much you can grab in one hit in relation to your own acreage.

Yeah you have to carry more thanks than anyone can buy up to and the same for turrets lol... it isnt possible to defend oneself.

Either way I asked for other changes, got these. I wanted changes that didnt affect war at all pretty much but still made the griefers lose their appetite. That met so much resistance because every self proclaimed warrior seems to feel like the most important aspect of the game is to every now and again ruin the set of someone who only grabs bots lol. Either way they got this change as a result. As far as I can tell they dont mind this as much. Just a couple of people got mad that they didn't understand the landgrabbing changes etc so far. I think the grabbing changes are fun, but the effect change on BR/AB building destruction is pretty bad both for alliance warfare and solo warfare.

Agreed. It doesnt make sense that for war on solo servers. Some might argue that it can make for interesting target selection in alliance warfare, pairing up attackers with different targets.... but I dont. I think the part of the change that affects special attacks building destruction should be changed to a limit of total buildings instead of buildings of the specific type.
That way a 5000 acre country cant demolish a 100k acre country in 50 turns but a 50k acre casher can AB a 50k acre farmer or indy or techer of 30-100k acres with good effect

Assuming it failed to sell and cant get enough food/cash to play turns without shortages theres no way to fix that immediatly with the tools they have at their disposal.

Every decent techer supplies his team with 3-5B worth of tech on normal resets, more on sets with high tech prices. That is done at a steep cost to the that techer. Fact of the matter is that the tech you supply your allies will either be sold or make the ally buy less tech. So it will impact the market negatively for you as a techer.

So its a net benefit to the team but the benefit is on the leechers and its negative to the techer, noticeably.

Just like Ebert lost NW on aiding Hellrush and Hellrush gained from it; Every leech Hellrush had gained resources and therefore NW from it at the expense of Hellrush.
I just want to get that across. Tech leech with no compensation is not unlike FA in terms of boosting someone at the expense of another.

If he paid for the tech ally costs per turn I might agree.

No doubt he kicked the fluff out of all of us, and handily so so good on him but we all kinda agreed as a server not to spend countries to fa to win top. If he'd won he won and I don't doubt he did but I was kinda just hoping he'd done it pure because it had looked so finely done with tech prices.

He won. But his 2.5-3m nw aid I can't help but say we don't call titanium all time winner for that same reason.

Actually he would have probably gotten higher NW if he didnt research ally his teammates and didnt get aid as it would force those ZigZaggers to spend more on tech on the market which would drive up the tech prices. For ZZ as a whole it would be a loss of maybe 20m NW to do so but Hellrush would be better off.

Every time a techer lets his tagmates leech the leechers get "aided" far more than those 3 aid packages, yet we dont ask teams to run with no research allies on their techers.

I think more could be done in spirit of cooperation within the team to synergize together without just trying to FA/market transfer/give landfarms to one person. Most of the time people dont really think about that as strategy but may like share market timers and stuff to buy each others goods and such at most. It would take a lot of effort to do more and the more effort you put into it the more happy the suiciders will feel when they ruin all that effort. So I just don't.

That said it would be very fun to work out and perfect actual team based strategies.

I think anyone can read whatever they want into the purpose of them. I always liked the player vs player competition aspect to be intact on tagged servers as well. But a lone techer on a team/alliance giving leeches is certainly due at least some mild AIDS. :)

The highest NWs all-time on this server had landfarms in several tags. Its still not cheating to do that, but then its not necessarily an impressive solo performance.

Hellrush did everything right, and got lucky with the market as well. Not gonna lie, when I did 80m+ NW(Techer) in express or 1173m NW(techer) in alliance I had amazing markets working for me. Does that render the accomplishment(s) moot?
