Hmm..

I'm not sure I understand why new players need to be shielded, why the market needs to be stabilized, why the distribution needs to be smoothed or why the grabbing environment needs to be less hostile.

I enjoy the hostile grabbing environment, the coarse distribution, and the unstable market. I don't think there are that many new players, but even still my opinion is that they don't need to be shielded but should rather just learn to play well.

Just my two cents.

Why do new players need shielding? Have you noticed how many complete n00bs join the game? relatively few. It was much easier to get into back in 2001, because you weren't going to be farmed 20x a day

QZJUL is trying. Give him props for trying to fix the server. I like the idea. Will it succeed? It's possible it worsen the situation, but it can also help the situation. Be optimistic and give him feedback.

So far I've read a very important point that KoH stated. GDI. Those bots need to have GDI or they'll all be dead before they have a chance to have an impact on our server.

It just seems to me that adding bots into the game is unfair to all explore players because the bots will be additional targets for land grabbers.

Also, doesn't stabilizing the market prejudice the democracy players who like to try to profit from that instability?

My opinion is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You are all entitled to your own opinions, but I think the game is fine how it is without bots, but then again maybe I'm just a Solaria originalist Mehul fanboy.

I'm not trying to criticize qzjul, just expressing my opinion and concerns.

IMO if you're playing all-X you're either doing it for the challenge or because you don't want to spend the time and effort to run a proper country. Why be concerned about what the grabbers are doing as long as they aren't grabbing you?

For the record, I've won express a few times as an all-X. I think. It's been so long so I don't really remember.

Personally, I dont like an idea of playing with an AI.

The fun about this game is the interaction among players and making new friends over the net. And of course, its hilarious to get response from ragers. But creating AIs just destroyed this process.

Isnt there other way to market this game out?

I would have to agree with this.

1. Give the bots less obvious names otherwise players will be more likely to hit them 2-10x each. (suggestion: maybe use a dictionary word generator)
2. Also, allow them to mass AB / missile if they are hit more than twice.

1) This game is almost 20 years old, and I'm not sure how you consider going from 150 players on the server 4 years ago to 120 on the server now to be "dying fast as fluff." I said game, not server. Numbers have been dropping and if you havnt noticed you arnt paying attention. I also like how you included the bots in your current server numbers. Pro status.

You are entitled to your opinion, but dwindling numbers and the difficulty of new players to break into the game are facts. Not opinions.

As for personal attacks, my post contained none. As for being constructive, I choose to do that on places other than server forums, although I would like to think that I do plenty to answer any serious question asked. Certainty more than complaining about changes made to increase player base.

1) Numbers have been dropping for 18 years. Dwindling numbers =/= dying fast as fluff.

2) Last four resets there were 144, 111, 120, and 119 players. I am not counting the bots, although I did assume there were less than 24 of them last set.

3) Referring to someone as 'this guy,' mischaracterizing their post so as to insinuate self-centeredness, and then sarcastically remarking 'pro status' after a (failed) attempt to point out a mistake is tantamount to a personal attack.

4) Again, not trying to criticize qzjul or complain about the changes, just expressing my preference for having no ai players and my concerns for what adding bots might do.

4) was explained by qz and quite frankly it's a great point, real newbs will get farmed to oblivion thus frustrating them and abandon the game, bots should in theory deter attention from them.
