playoff upsets, I predict just two, neither being much of an upset:
Boston over Tampa round 1
Detroit over Vancouver round 2

Then Pittsburgh over San Jose in the Cup.

I would like to believe the Leafs will make the playoffs this season, but I still think they're a season or two away from really getting after it.

I agree with your 1-4 in the East though... A Pitt/SJ final would be AWESOME.. . but I think San Jose will win in 7 if they meet up.

I don't trust a lot of the teams in the lower half of the East. I think Philly, Montreal, Carolina, New Jersey all have holes, and that Toronto is the most complete team of the bunch.

And the Islanders, Senators, Panthers, and Jets won't even be in contention near the end.


A few more outlandish predictions, just to make sure that I get something crazy right, and also get something very very wrong....

Stamkos wins the scoring title (both goals and points)
Malkin comes in 2nd in points and wins the Hart
Miller wins the Vezina
Blum (Nashville) wins the Calder
Weber wins the Norris (2nd trophy for Nashville D-men)

Washington gives up 30 goals less than anyone else in their division - again.
Jagr and Pronger combine to play under 120 games.
Crosby plays under 50 games.
Ovechkin gets suspended for at least 5 games for various infractions, possibly costing him the scoring title.
Washington gets more points than last year's 107, but Pittsburgh gets 115-120 to take the #1 seed.

Don't think LA will make the playoffs? I dunno about that.. Pretty much agree with you on the east though, but I'd maybe switch Boston and Buffalo around.

i stopped reading after you had toronto in the playoffs.

as a fan of toronto, you build me up, build me up buttercup, baby, just to bring me down. and i thank you for that.

in my life, we won't win the cup. and in my life i doubt we'll make the playoffs :( same goes for al east toronto blue jays :(

I dunno I think the leafs have the best team they've had since before the lockout.. if Reimer plays well they have a shot at sneaking in.

i doubt our ability to score goals. reimer is awesome and i like him a lot, and i believe we have a quality defense. but you need to score goals to have a winning season, and this troubles me as it does every season :(

i hope for the best but expect the usual :)
