I think part of why this community survived so far is our resistant to change.

However, I think if there are valid ideas that can be implemented over time, should do so, maybe keep an alliance server as a 'legacy' server?

I just think that open dialog is healthy. This closed off resistance to change is killing the game. Open dialog should be without judgement or personal attacks, and I know some people in the game could not do that. So obviously an open post on AT isn't going to bring as much fruit as it should.

Pang and QZ you know I never have meant any offense, and I have mentioned on several occasions and via PM that i really appreciate your efforts. My <rant> was merely years of harping on about how to make the game better, and years of resistance and players leaving.

I would even consider contributing financially if the development pathway was tight, and we could mutually decide on the updates... anyone else?

While the game is profitable (thanks to qz low hosting costs in his bedroom closet) it isn't a worthy investment in my estimation. Natural growth needs to happen not an injection of investors.

As an investor I'd be concerned about ROI.

My thoughts are that a game like this doesn't have the draw that once drew in thousands... While a mobile app would bring ease of access, it wouldn't possibly create demand. There in lies the real problem IMO... How do you increase demand? Whether that takes investment in time/capital/whatever is a decision that pang/qz have to make

As much as it would be boohoed, social media incorporation strikes me as the only long-term survival strategy unless folks are fine with status quo.

This is an archaic TEXT BASED GAME. The only way to make it competitive in phone apps or social media would be to put so many bells and whistles on it that the game would be unrecognizable. AND it would not be as good as the made-for-phone apps.

I do miss having lots of players. Dont know how to draw more people in, esp in alliance since that server really sucks for n00bs.

I play as much out of habit as anything else. And I am keeping the lights on in the RAGE sites for the old friends that drop buy sometimes.

And there is nothing wrong with that . . . .

ya, nothing wrong with a text based game. like I said, the API work opens a lot more pathways and lets us create more open projects for contribution.

I'm here, and on the eve of war, I'm bored as fluff and can't get any help on different strategies. Ugh.

Just read the 1st page of posts, but I'd rather not have many changes. The best part of this game still being around is arguably the nostalgia of it. This isn't the most amazingest game out there, and everyone knows it. I don't think the goal of Pang and QZ is that anyway. I assume that it's to keep alive one of the first games a lot of us ever played and enjoy interacting with the friends we made back then. It's probably hard to keep in touch with a global community to begin with, don't you think?

i played ultracorps (quite slowpaced game) 1st and then earth2025 and utopia.

We have a facebook chat for Elders. Doubt id play if we didnt.

As long as their are 10 players playing, this game will be around in its current form.


1. The game is indeed stagnant/decaying, and the owners indeed do not have the time/desire to truly do what needs to be done.

2. The game does indeed need a complete and total overhaul, but I'd trust that to a team of people with community wide respect, not a single individual with unknown intentions.

When number 2 is ready to happen, I'll be back.

I wasn't going to post on this thread because it is full of negativity and bullfluff. The game is great the way it is and the improvements made by qzjul and co are good. The game doesn't need a major overhaul or graphics because it is a classic game with a long history and it shouldn't be changed drastically.

But what bullfluff this is from Servant. Servant, when you have played a few hundred sets and learned to play, if that is even possible, you may have the right to participate on some team to make improvements to the game. But all you want is personal glory and the ability to brag that you are a leader. You can't play for fluff, you can't lead for fluff, and when the going got tough with the Monsters you bailed, so you have no loyalty or commitment to be a leader, so fluff off.

This game may actually survive from its community until 2025, hopefully enough of us will be left by then. BTW the express server's old purpose was to test upcomming game changes, maybe we should start doing that again or just a test server.
