how does one prevent or reduce the number of earthquakes? they seem to be happening very frequently to me.

use your turns and bpt to build it back up fast. Don't bother with luck, is that what people use to avoid growing?

get 50-60 bpt and take turns for bonuses, explore to 12-15k acres depending on strategy(if not techer), stock, destock and win.

unbuilt land increases frequency as well, so having an EQ and not dealing with it will lead to more.

i have many times gotten eq right after i have built up from explore or from eq.

I've figured out that having more than 65BPT leads to an increase in the frequency of earthquakes, at least it seems that way, I've never truly run the numbers on it, but it seems every time I put up enough CS to support 65BPT on a dictatorship results in more earthquakes.

The relationship with CS is not something I know of. I think it's just a coincidence but either way I don't think it matters. Success is not about avoiding or attracting earthquakes. I think thats what I wanted to say with my first post and I'm sorry if that point did not get across.

Focus on the other aspects of the game and you shall succeed. The earthquakes that you do get will not matter much compared to that.

Earth Quakes, can be useful, because it destroys a few acres. That I re apply to farms or labs, or what ever. Point is you don't have to destroy buildings and you save turns not having to do it your self this way.

dunno about ratski but if i get 30 buildings eq on fully built country i have to either waste 1 turn to build up 30 buildings instead normal 100 buildings or explore land to get 70 acres or suffer from lower production until i have 100 acres unbuilt.

Yeah and teching has been more profitable than any other Strategy ! and it has proved to recover from 5 retail's, so far and gained in net worth even after losing like 5000 acres. I don't like losing $300.000 a turn. but I have learned to make more than I lose.

you tend to not lose any cs if your land total is high enough

that reduces some of the cost of quakes

65 bpt on a dict is optimal for building a little over 24k acres after building that last cs. I dont think that has ever happened in tournament. The most I have done and made worth it with non-theo was like 85 bpt.

Not as a dict tho, but I'd love to try a dict netter in tourney some time. Could be fun(not for everyone, but for me).
