And FYI, some of us wanted to punch you in the face because MD "never never forgot the treachery and stabbing in the back" by Imag.

As somebody who is looking into adopting a Pit Bull, I have to say the private market is regulating them plenty. All the places that allow you to adopt a Pitty rescue require you to take classes and they will come by and do an in home evaluation to make sure you are suitable. Also, we need to get a special rider with our Home Owner's Insurance.

Conclusion: Private market regulates the crap out of Pit Bulls. It would be easier for us to adopt a handgun....

lol, if you need a respirator to cook with them, you shouldn't be putting them in your food. Handling them with your hands is fine, just makes them a little warm. In fact, I've dried some of mine out when I have a bumper crop and grind them into a powder I put in my shoes when it's stupid cold out. Keeps your feet feeling nice and toasty.

Then again people don't believe me when I tell them something is "mild"...

Too late, but in the future, vinegar is the key.

With something like ghost peppers of those exotic things even hotter, it's super-key you wash your hands in vinegar. Not only for the bathroom thing, but even hours after if you take out your contacts later that night it's like getting maced. Great too for when you get it under your fingernails and this fluff keeps burning for weeks :)

How have you folks gotten RL friends to join? Perhaps I'm a terrible salesman but over the last 10 years I've gotten one friend to create a country and he ran maybe 400 turns and abandoned it, and it's not from a lack of trying.

Still, great to see you guys getting new blood into the game!

I work for a utility so I'm as you would say plugged in. Basically if you did do it, you would want to make sure you would be able to do "net metering" for the life of your panels and your local PUC (Public Utilities Commission) wouldn't screw you over like in Wisconsin recently where they were able to get the rates changed to have more cost sunk into the fixed costs for a reduction of the $/kWh (A direct assault on solar)

Also, another thing you might consider is joining a community solar garden. You basically buy into as many panels as you want and a mini solar-plant is built somewhere where there is cheap space. The advantage there is you all get to share the expensive inverters and controlling circuitry. Some of the electric coops in my area are putting these up and the kWh your panel produces is directly subtracted from your bill and if your panels produce more than you consume, they write you a check at the net metering rate. I see that as a safer option but lets face it, it's cool to have the panels right on your roof. Makes you feel better too. :)

At some point in the past, somebody started heavily recruiting for their alliance at Free Republic and the results have totally backfired on this community.

You can't be pro-gun and pro-gun control? So that literally means anybody who is pro-gun must support my right to have a 16-inch naval gun pointed wherever I feel like? If you're pro-gun that means you must support my right to pack a concealed weapon during a meeting with the president (whoever they happen to be at that time). If you're pro-gun you must support my right to bring a Gatling gun with me into the movie theater. Because preventing me from doing any of those things would be a form of...wait for it...GUN CONTROL! SMH.

I've talked with a lot of what I consider uber-right leaning folks and I can have a very pleasant political conversation with them. Never have I encountered in real life what I see on these boards. Is it the people? The anonymity provided by the Internet? What?

And I'm done with AT for the next 2 months. Bonus.

Up until this point this war was changing nothing. I could care less about who actually "wins" the war. Real victory is in how you fight (and in this case MD is not doing well IMHO) and if you have fun. (Which we are most generally) The Yankees have the Red Sox. Packers have the Bears. MD has SoF. We hate each other but the game goes on.

This though really saddens me RAGE. All of a sudden you made this set matter at least in my eyes. You say you want to still want be friends but congratulations, you just pissed off the majority of the MD base. (or at least me and the people I've spoken to)

I would tell you to go fluff yourselves, but that would be too fun for you. Instead, I'd rather jam a drinking straw into your eye, suck out the juicy goodness, then skull-fluff your empty socket.

I remember we were pissed at you at one point because you kept saying "I can't give you a pact but you can trust me. We won't hit you" and during that chat the MD heads were all on a skype call (we figured 5 brains put together might give us a shot at not getting screwed over) and we just thought you were the biggest POS for saying you wanted to help us but didn't have the authority. The ironic thing is we said the exact same thing to LaF because of the 6mo. no pact thing we were bound to when Pride and I took over.

Anyways it was roast Boltar night.

What about thoughts on me since this is so fun?

With all do respect to the current MD leadership...you give them too much credit.

We're constantly changing leadership and rotating people through, and thus we have a hard time making relationships stick. Thus we bumble and stumble our way through FA and what might appear to be manipulation is probably just stupidity. (at least that's how my administration kinda worked) If you ever were under the impression we were playing this crazy game of 3D Foreign Affairs chess, that was well off base and I'm going to guess it's the same now.

I seriously think you give MD (and probably SOL as well) WAAAAAAAAAY too much credit for being clever. I'm feeling like a loose cannon right now which is why you're hearing this, but I would be willing to bet the people that did MD/SOL FA are probably smacking themselves in the head as to how they got into a war with SoF again. We always feel like you're 4 steps ahead of us and we try to look smart when replying to these kinda threads, but we're kinda clueless.

But it is what it is and I'm actually enjoying this war so whatever I guess.

Oh, and Sov. The only lie I think I ever told you (that I remember) was I think at one point you were thinking of offering us a friendly war with you or Rival or something like that, and we said we would consider it....we totally had our plans set to hit you like we told you we were going to do earlier. We also actively and heavily pursued FA in one war, I forget which one, because we were losing. You're welcome for the competitive fight :)

Seriously people, quit wasting your time discussing stale EE politics and at least fluff about the current ones.

HavocMD

If I ever decide to get back into leadership, I think I would just insist on doing all FA in public sight to avoid all this crap. Plus imagine how fun that would be :)

What has always puzzled me though is how long some of you hold grudges and remember all this random fluff from a conversation had about a game 3 years ago. You were lied to, we were lied to. I lied. You lied. We all lie. In the end, we're playing a game and having fun. I just wish I would see less "SoF" in my attack screen during these war sets.

Really looking forward to this war. We'll have two alliances with big 10k techers fully stocked hammering each other in good-natured fun. I'm really glad the EE community is so cool about this so we can grow our countries without worrying about getting fsed two weeks in. This really gives me hope for this game and the maturity of its players.

There are a number of scientific proofs of these weird sums in nature. Case and point, the Casimir Effect.

When it was theorized it had the sum 1 + 2 - 3 + 4 .... to infinity in it as part of a constant. When you do the sum it comes out to 1/4. Well fast forward 50 years and somebody finally is able to measure it and that 1/4 in seen in the actual measurement.

So please, come and "deal" with me. I'll even pay for your ticket so you can try and beat me up or whatever. I think that would be pretty damn funny.

Seriously though, if you're in a car, it takes an extra 15 seconds out of your day to pass a bike correctly (i.e. not 3 inches from my handlebars) Please do that. I'm keeping your medical insurance low as long as you don't knock me off my bike so you can stuff your face with another cheeseburger.

I felt that was a really interesting time for both MD and SoF. There was that point where we were both hovering around 100 or 80 members, conducting epic FSs and having pretty spectacular wars. I also remember it being hella frustrating on our side because we had the internal strength to win (at least in my opinion) but our alliances were not nearly as strong as SoFs and there was nothing we could do about it in the short term. In the end it took a massive scandal and the eradication of an entire alliance to tip the scales.

It was a good run and I'm sure you'll be back to full strength shortly. Until then I'm just glad I don't have to watch kill run after kill run stall because of your epic walling skills.

Because that's how I understand their law is written, which is the most fluffed up thing I've ever seen. I seemed that a year ago there were only a small handful of viable alliances. Now there appears to be a great distribution of of members and alliances. It's great to see alliances like RAGE, iMag back. PDM running strong again. DANGER is not only more fun than a barrel full of hand-grenade wielding monkeys and seem to add a member every set. Hell, for whatever it's worth, Pinoy and Gambino are out there doing whatever it is that they're doing.

How the hell has this server gotten healthy all of a sudden given it's trajectory? That or have I smoked too much crack today and I'm way off base?

But anyways, my applause to all of you. My friends, enemies, and those I have yet to sort out. We just might be able to get another couple years out of this game after all!

Not in leadership anymore. (Sov apparently never wanted me out and I'm the one gone, lol)

But I will say this. MD, SOL, LCN, etc. We've been fluffing about the politics of this game for a long ass time and now we do have a chance to affect positive change. I for one did not think I was fighting this last year and a half or so just to get revenge.

In this game, power ebbs and flows and perhaps if we throw SoF a bone here (In my heart I hate that idea but my heads says its the right thing long term) when they are back on top perhaps this perpetual gangbang war trend we're on might finally be snapped.

Might this come back to bite us in the ass, hell yea. But we're trying to portray ourselves as "the good guys" and if we want that title we, by definition, have to take that risk.

And with that, I think I just crushed any chance I would have of getting back the Presidency once I finish grad school. :/

Thank you for that post. Granted I don't hold much sway anymore, but I must say that I really felt sincerity in your post, and after MD got to fight 2 wars with an advantage against you, I don't think you'll have to worry about us carrying much of a grudge. We're usually pretty satisfied after a taste of blood. I really do hope that the SoF and MD relations improve, as it would finally allow us to net perhaps instead of this "wargaining" bullfluff.

Thanks and good luck with the FA job.

Sir:

Some recent work by E.Fermi and L. Szilard, which has been communicated to me in manuscript, leads me to expect that the element uranium may be turned into a new and important source of energy in the immediate future. Certain aspects of the situation which has arisen seem to call for watchfulness and, if necessary, quick action on the part of the Administration. I believe therefore that it is my duty to bring to your attention the following facts and recommendations:

In the course of the last four months it has been made probable through the work of Joliot in France as well as Fermi and Szilard in America - that it may become possible to set up a nuclear chain reaction in a large mass of uranium,by which vast amounts of power and large quant ities of new radium-like elements would be generated. Now it appears almost certain that this could be achieved in the immediate future.

This new phenomenon would also lead to the construction of bombs, and it is conceivable - though much less certain - that extremely powerful bombs of a new type may thus be constructed. A single bomb of this type, carried by boat and exploded in a port, might very well destroy the whole port together with some of the surrounding territory. However, such bombs might very well prove to be too heavy for transportation by air.

The United States has only very poor ores of uranium in moderate quantities. There is some good ore in Canada and the former Czechoslovakia. while the most important source of uranium is Belgian Congo. In view of the situation you may think it desirable to have more permanent contact maintained between the Administration and the group of physicists working on chain reactions in America. One possible way of achieving this might be for you to entrust with this task a person who has your confidence and who could perhaps serve in an inofficial capacity. His task might comprise the following:

a) to approach Government Departments, keep them informed of the further development, and put forward recommendations for Government action, giving particular attention to the problem of securing a supply of uranium ore for the United States;

b) to speed up the experimental work, which is at present being carried on within the limits of the budgets of University laboratories, by providing funds, if such funds be required, through his contacts with private persons who are willing to make contributions for this cause, and perhaps also by obtaining the co-operation of industrial laboratories which have the necessary equipment.

I understand that Germany has actually stopped the sale of uranium from the Czechoslovakian mines which she has taken over. That she should have taken such early action might perhaps be understood on the ground that the son of the German Under-Secretary of State, von Weizsäcker, is attached to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut in Berlin where some of the American work on uranium is now being repeated.

Yours very truly,
Albert Einstein
