Sick round for indies and cashers, low food and tech prices all round, and cheap and abundant oil (which allowed the grabbing). Best set for indy probably in a year or two since military prices never really crashed like they sometimes do.

Bot retals would be nice to have implemented, but it doesnt really solve an issue and it could be done so so wrong if set up the wrong way.

You need to get to a point where farming bots require some defences but they retal in a predictable way and they can can be outplayed with some skill and/or effort. If they just stock 2 weeks and level you with ABs because your country was the one that got the highest score from a random generator you've achieved nothing but remove skill and add luck.

If bot retals are in play the humanitarians likely need to be tweaked in order to allow for decent defensive unit NW on large countries.

tax income = tax rate * pop * pci. And because tax rate is included in the PCI and Pop we can either analytically or numerically solve for the maximal tax income.

Keep in mind Tax rate is a percentage so 30% tax is written as 0.30

Pop is propotional to (1-.95*Tax)
PCI is proportional to (1-Tax)

So tax income is proportional to (1-.95*Tax)*(1-Tax)*Tax.

Because its impossible to set decimals in the tax rate we can easily test the tax rates one by one to find the maximum.
The result will be that 34% yeilds the maximal, just marginally more than 35%.

This is independent of strategy, food price, tech levels or anything.

The problem tho is that population eats food, and because a higher tax rate lowers population it reduces food consumption.

Food consumption from population is proportional to population. So here it gets messy. Because tax income varies with govt, strategy and res/bus tech levels and because food cost from population varies with residential tech, govt and food prices we cant say for sure what is best in every given situation.

Unless you wanna do the math yourself or set it up in a spreadsheet and test it numerically for different situations you will have to trust me that 35% is usually the answer, and that while situations exist when 36%, 37% or 38% may be the ideal tax rate they are few and far between and the benefit of using the ideal tax rate instead of just 35% in these rare scenarios is insignificant.

I'm not sure theres a scenario that would allow 34% to be better than 35%. I guess if you played a theo MBR with no military tech and you somehow had to take turns and couldnt sell on the public market but you had too much food for the rest of the round so that you would have to sell it on private market for $17?

Yeah so when this was first added my complaint was that in many not so rare instances the new formulas make returns independent of attack type (SS/PS), Mstrat, govt, DR and NW ratio. Now the most obvious flaws were quite swiftly removed and that changeset now works as it was advertised to work. But both before and after that changeset I always argued for that it should work as I think you are suggesting here.

That isnt how it was made tho. Now there is just a flat cap on returns dependent of attackers stuff. For most normal situations this doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but it does dumb down grabbing to a degree in some circumstances. On the other hand you could argue the opposite too, by claiming it can be a player mistake to PS when an SS would yield the same return and the player who makes costly efforts to match NW on a retal or a grab only for it not to matter has made an unforced error.
That said, if I understand you correctly, you are suggesting the same thing I suggested back then, and I still think that it's a more elegant solution.

And also, especially when entering clan GDI. I see tag jumping as the biggest issue here, and how that works. Maybe it requires a timer for that as well?

It serves everyone in a tag tho, everyone should be clan GDI right now, even war tags.

The only ones it doesnt serve are untagged people who want to suicide.

You could claim that it is unfair, if for some reason this server was supposed to cater to untagged people. Because one of the things this mechanism does is so that an untagged cant choose who they want to retal in a tag where one player farms them. But this server is not supposed to do that.

So again. Why is it unfair, if EVERY tag gets the same benefits? Why does it need a cost, if everyone should choose to join it (for a time anyway)?

I do understand that war tags will have to do diplomacy to find a war sometimes. But most wars are arranged anyway. Or some tag could just go out of GDI and hope someone hits them? I dunno? I think there will be ways to war and there will be war every reset as long as there are people who want to do it.

As I remember it the old complaint about the last iteration of clan GDI was that it did nothing for war tags and supposedly war tags would get suicided. Which btw., alpha servers restricts you to one country now which is dumb.

Theres more than one alpha server. AlphaFFA allows like 25 countries or something, plus you can delete and start again with no issue.

When you get down to the nitty-gritty there may be variations in some things that also vary between the servers, but for 99% of the formulas its identical.

The other thing is since the game irc is gone and scourge doesn't track alphaffa/alpha news you can't test warbots there anymore which was useful.

It's not a stupid idea but it would have some unfortunate consequences I think:

It will dilute the one game we have so fewer players will play each of them which is a negative. Better to have one good game than 2 bad ones.

Secondly, it will make more players play as if their country is expendable.
Part of what makes primary great is that because of GDI and because of the 2 month length there is a feasible path to netgain and most people see the value in not playing like a total schmuck.

I would say that while there is a unique flow to every server, what sets players apart is mostly the same things. So if you get better at the fundamentals by playing express you will do better in primary as well.
Or at the very least, if you master the fundamentals, it is much easier to adapt to the unique features of every server than it was to learn those fundamentals in the first place.

Once you cross 1350 population(at 0% tax rate), your population starts rising by more than 40 per turn (if you are not bioterrored). If you are at 35% tax rate your max pop growth stays at 40 until somewhere just north of 2050 pop.

Population growth isn't affected by PCI. PCI growth is affected by pop and pop growth in some circumstances and PCI is very marginally affected by population. These effects generally don't matter to the average player.

Yes! It's great. You might wanna add a stockpiling phase to your strategy as well if you are starting from the beginning.

Stocking and destocking
You should get to a point, if you are balancing your purchases correctly, that your tech is high enough and more turrets would be excessive. At that point you might want to stock most of your food until the last few days when you sell them (either on public or private market) to get funds to buy more military. Stocking food is done by selling it on the market for a price that absolutely wont sell ($300 for example).

25% is the limit for being allowed to attack. At 24% you can't. There is no effectiveness cap. My assumption always was that 25% readiness on attack means you have to send 4 jets to work as well as 1 at 100% readiness. But there could be some kind of formula there reducing the effect, but I don't think so.

Unless theres something we can't see what appears to be happening is what Genie said and the overlap of hits are just because when one player ran out of turns he started hitting at the pace he was recieving turns, and during that time the second player decided to finnish off.

IF they coordinated through ingame messages or such it would be problematic, but this looks like it could have been entirely organic. #3 is obviously totally unrelated.

I can confirm what Celphi says that PCI has further hidden decimals (I dont know how many)

The reason LaF says the PCI growth formula isnt known is that this PCI growth formula is the one for E2025 and pciA component is wrong in some instances (or there might be a pciD component that we dont know about that takes effect in some extreme cases).

This PCI growth formula is attributed to those who reverse engineered E2025 (Revelat0r, slagpit, QZ along with the help of the ones that found formulas) and those formulas were usually correct or correct-ish for e2025. All formulas were not in fact found out. And not all formulas were copied straight into EE, some were changed or have been changed along the way. For instance the PCI formula (not PCI growth) had a notable change in one of the terms, and the spying formulas were never found out and have had additions to them along the way.

I believe also that BPT is rounded differently now than in E2025, but thats just from my memory and I can't test that theory. Not sure if anyone remembers.

This is quite wrong on the chronology.

Evo and us had uNAP for X years.
LaF and Evo were still pacted when this war started. It was only the second round of this that we unpacted Evo.
FOUR Evo members were caught FAing SOL/Mercs members. Not one.

It was Tmac(who some consider the leader of Evo), Cathoweverhespellshisname, Duff and g0nz0 that FAed. We caught the first FA 6th of March and didn't consider ourselves in a strong enough position to do anything about it. We expressed our displeasure with the FA on the ~17th and since it continued in a consistent fashion we FSed like 2 weeks later.

That grievance doesn't exist. We also never touched Evo until they started aiding the crap out of you.

That said we did lose. A 100% member advantage is something we are not going to try to think our way out of. It's not even hard to admit.

I'm not sure if you are confused that either I or Requiem or anyone else suggests this info should be available to all during a round. That's something so far fetched I never even considered it.

What I'm saying is that it should be impossible to hide at the end of a round, since this feature already exists within the leaderboard/end country statuses. Therefore is extremely easy because all it takes is to just remove the optionality.

Requiems solution is better but takes more time. I have no idea how much more time. I too would prefer it done the way he suggested. But neither of us suggested this should be open info during an active round.

bonus points are not lost but permanent bonuses are. You lose X% of your instances of that bonus, rounded normally.

So if you spent on defensive bonus 10 times and your switch loss is 14% you will lose your last 0.14 * 10 = 1.4 = ~1 bonus placement on defense. if you had taken 11 bonuses on defense you lose 0.14 * 11 = 1.54 = ~2 last instances of that bonus. If there are categories of permanent bonus that work a different way I have no idea about that.

I don't know if what OP means is to have all that open always and show also outgoing FA. Now I would be content with just seeing all incoming FA since it would allow for all relevant info to be obtainable, just not with equal QoL.

It would require 2-3 lines of code, and no new pages or features to change and could be done in under 10 minutes. Wheras going all out with OPs suggestion showing relations over the course of the round and also outgoing FA would require a lot more. If we get 60 minutes of dev time a year it should be spent effectively.

Netters want transparency in case there is doubt that a player won by his own merit vs got aided to the top.

Warring tags should want transparency about if someone of their enemies got FAed during the war.

You can place 25% of military/tech on market, 33.75% for commie.
However, on Express these numbers are 45% and 60.75% respectively, since because of the rapid turn rate in this server it was decided that indies and techer had to be able to sell off a greater portion of their products per sale. This has the added benefit of enabling the player to protect more of his assets from government switching losses. :)
