I kinda like the 2B bug.

I think it's kinda fun to have a few built-in traps that could catch you and screw you over if you're not careful--like if you put your entire stockpile at $60 and the market gets bought out and you don't know it--should've been more careful.

also did they change earth now if you try to buy from the market at a higher price then your private market now you buy from the over priced market.... it used to default to using your private market if it was cheaper.

it's not a bug now, it's an artificially imposed cap to imitate the old game.

The way the game is currently coded there is no way in hell you'll hit an overflow error:)

the limit can be removed for only one server if for some reason that made sense. ie. (JUST AN EXAMPLE) if the conclusion was that no 2 bil limit on FFA = good but 2bil limit on alliance = good then the game could be set up like that.

Something like the "corruption" that was implemented in the Express server that had no 2bil limit could be interesting. Would still make it so you don't want to use turns when you have over 2bil, but wouldnt effect jumping..

i honestly think that totally removing the 2bill limit would radically change the game, and i wouldnt find it as fun, nor challenging.

while i understand that the 2bill bug was a flaw in the coding of the old game, its been there forever, and its as much a part of the game as missiles, or anything like that. i think changing it now would change the game too drastically

Maybe I'm underestimating it, but although I think the implications would be noticeable I don't think they'd be quite as profound as everyone seems to think. With corruption and a time based private market replenishment rate in place, there's really no incentive to hold that kind of cash anyways unless you're walling or converting. You'd lose whatever you'd lose to taxes in stocking to corruption anyways, so why not just stock and not have mad cash sitting around to get suicided for?

I'm definitely all in favor of tossing the limitation for a set just to see how it pans out...even if it was just a short 1 month set to test the dynamics.

i say remove it, but make it as it is in express. the corruption rate definitely makes people have to stock because if you don't after the 2 bil mark you lose a lot of cash each turn. i don't agree that it would make the tmbr bad either, if anything it would give it a little bump since they wouldn't have to worry about selling too much military to go over the limit, and since you don't really use turns at that point they don't suffer.

the 2 bil bug is there because the original game actually had a coding/numeric overflow issue without it. The game as it is now has no such issue but the cap is still there since the original intent was to duplicate earth as closely as possible (minus certain other bugs) first.
