...for the Oct/Nov set.

Please be reminded this October is the international Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Everyone here is likely to know someone who has dealt with breast cancer, be it a mother, sister, aunt, daughter.. or Thomas (kidding ;)), so make sure to do your part in helping to raise awareness (wear pink, give breast massages, do a race for the cure, etc).

Long live boobies!

For all kinds of information on breast cancer and to see how you can help visit http://www.komen.org

Peace, love and boobies for all! Have a great set!

I refuse to recognize this because:

More men die from prostate cancer than women die of breast cancer. How about we try focusing on that for once?

If caught early enough, prostrate cancer is very treatable, unlike breast cancer. My father had it and it involved surgery ... no kemo, no radiation and he has been cancer free for 10 years.

I am still stunned by your post H4.

breast cancer is treatable as well, they can remove the breast or sections of it.

But when push comes to shove I don't care about what is more easy to treat etc etc. If prostate cancer is so easy to treat, then why are so many men still dieing from it? i'm sure there are reasons such as lack of prevention, lack of check ups etc. But the statistic is still the statistic at the end of the day. The fact that it is easier to treat (if this is in fact the case) would make an argument for MORE attention being paid to it, as it is an issue that should be easier to resolve in order to obtain the LARGER benefits.

Its not as though I feel breast cancer isn't a serious issue, but I've always been perturbed (maybe even boarderline upset) over the disparity in campaining/awareness drives etc for breast cancer compared to prostate cancer.

Its the same as the whole "stop violence against women" or "women take back the night" campaigns... I will never support them simply because I feel peopel should be focusing those kind of efforts towards the reduction of violence against EVERYONE and not just women. Why are men more deserving of being victims of violence then women? Just like the in the cancer situation: More men are victims of violence than women are.. why don't we pay attention to that for once?

QED!

i think raised about $20m last year for prostate cancer prevention and research.

hopefully get at least that much this year!

though most is raised in Australia, they are trying to push it overseas to US/UK!

There's no room for debate on this thread. All cancer sucks.

We just happen to really enjoy boobs and it coincided with being philanthropic given the month in which the set started.

Now hush with all the fighting and support your important causes individually or as groups, don't argue to bring down others :)

My sister-in-law had a double mastectomy and chemo 5+ years ago. A month before her 5 month anniversay of being cancer free it returned and now it has spread throughout her body. Removing the breast doest not guarantee success.

Not sure what H4's problems with this are but cancer is a nasty disease no matter what part of the body it attacks.

This is a very sensitive issue for me right now: less than a year ago I lost my father in law due to lung cancer caused by asbestos and my cousin is fighting colon cancer and doesnt have much time left.

Thanks for your kind words Alana, this is a very difficult time for me and my family.

they should just pool all the money into a Cancer awareness pot, and each 3 years fight a form of Cancer.. with all the money pooled together, they better beable to find the cure.. but they won't.. they'd rather get our money to help fight it... and then get our money to live longer with it... no cure.. just a Adhesive strip(aka Band-Aid) to cover up the bad part to patch us up.

I spelled it right in the body of the post llaar.

And unless a person is too incompetent to understand the point just because of that misspelling, it shouldn't matter. :)

I assume you understand the point though since you posted. Either that or you were severely confused to the point where you had to dictionary.com "awarness" to find the correct word and then make a dumb post about spelling it correctly. *shrugs* I'll assume the former because I have faith in humanity, yourself included, llaar ;p
