The game was founded by qzjul and Pangaea around the same time as news was coming out that OMAC/Jolt would be discontinuing Earth: 2025. It had been suspected for some time that this would occur, as any kind of development on the original game by its relatively new owners had come to a complete halt, and hourly disruptions were killing the game.

Slagpit was initially brought on board to help with formula, but quickly became a core game developer.
