I was thinking that blid, I noticed a lot of the top players don't actually have that much D. Is that the right way to play it? If you're in top 40, maintain tech levels and be more jet heavy or at least 1:1 jet:turrets?

Serp - Yeah mostly, but I also noticed I was falling further and further behind the commies, so I was wondering if I should just use a day to boost NW to stay within range.

So as a rep casher, does anyone ever take a maintenance day where they just cash and get everything up to par, like tech levels, jets, etc.? Or is the goal to just get as much land as fast as you can and then buy techs at the end of the day? Cuz I find I don't have cash to buy military and techs after a day of grabbing..

I like what Serp said, in primary it's irrelevant what type of grab it is. The way I see it, if someone has more land than me and not enough D, they deserve to be grabbed.

If you can't retal someone that's YOUR problem, not the grabber's problem. Use your stock to buy jets and retal or get some more D so he can't hit you. On top of it all, PDM is a bigger alliance than NA, if you can't out net NA, who is constantly grabbed, then you are AWFUL at netting.

Takes like 265 hits to kill someone with a GS (from my experience in alliance server). Hence GSing in primary is useless.

I retract my statement, stopped 7 of 9 after buying back up to 55%.. now it's broken the other way =P

Wait, when did we call in imag? I'm pretty sure (and I think they even confirmed) they hit rival based on their own choice because they didn't like the way Rival was bumping membership #'s and then claiming they won the war.. though I could be wrong, someone from imag will have to confirm their side of things.

As for everything else, that was before I came back to this game so no idea about any of that. =/

So how would you explain the oil graph in primary on eestats. It looks to me like every 2 to 3 days the gap is filled due to ppl holding on to turns and realizing they need to buy oil at current price in order to continue.

Either that or someone does a partial oil buyout every few days.

Actually even looking at past few reset market prices/demand graph for oil, the long term demand graph is for the most part linear (of course fluctuations from day to day but long term is linear growth) until day 50 while price graph is different from reset to reset.

Yeah I guess in the end its about perception based on how we each play. I don't generally let oil price affect the way I grab (unless its like $500+) because I always PS. I also NEVER use O-allies cuz the majority of O allies I've ever had also always PSed, so no one benefited. So for me if oil is under $500 I consider it inelastic personally, but it looks like other ppl perceive it differently.

Before stocking phase oil is not elastic. Very few ppl stock oil the first 5 weeks in primary.

The problem is still SO's are real time and sell price is delayed 6-8 hours. If I'm going to make a grab, I'm not going to put up a SO and wait 6-8 hours for it, instead I'm going to buy what I need at the moment if the current price is anywhere decent.

I often put a fake 1 order of oil at $1 under what I'm selling at. But I don't know what ppl have sold at in the past 6-8 hours so it often gets wiped by someone selling at the previous ridiculously low price.

They do not, I ran an oiler last reset and I was hit more early on when oil prices were low because I couldn't buy enough defense vs when they were high and it wasn't worth hitting me.

The market has not answered anything. It just said there's very low volatility.

And fine let me ask you the flip side, if oil was cheap, would you buy more or buy what you need?

So oil was $145 half an hour ago, then $125, and now $100. Are you telling me that ppl weren't buying and were waiting for the price to drop to buy? Forgot to mention earlier, lack of volatility also prevents true equilibrium price from being achieved (hence market makers in the stock market for low volatility stocks).
