doesn't this always go around in an iterative process, ie. when you're young you make up new weird sayings and words in order to distance yourself from the older generation, and slowly as you get older and get used to your own expressions, you forget how revolting they were, and suddenly you think the youth of today should be smacked for talking a different language than you.
...it's been going on since Socrates, I don't remember the exact quote, but I think he said something along these lines just about a gazillion years ago.
