Hi guys,

I have been meditating on the rational behind stocking bushels and need intellects smarter than my own to shed some light on the matter...

How much does one lose by stocking bushels if one is buying them instead of producing them (if at all)?

I noticed that when I buy bushels even at 34/35 I lose NW.

Then to trade them at the end of the game... aren’t we already losing a lot of $ because bushels are rarely less than priv market sell price?

How does this work?

Thank you,
Z

You start to gradually to lose money once you past $2bil to the value of 0.1% per turn on any cash above $2b. So You can't just keep all your money on hand, plus if people grab you they will take huge amounts of it. To get around this people buy bushels, and put them on the market at ridiculous prices, so it doesn't sell, and at the end of the set, sell it on the private market. You can also increase private market sell price by buying Military tech.
All strats have their own production, whether that be cash, mil, tech, food, oil, you could make the same argument about producing something vs buying something for everything, at the end of the day its always best to specialise.

Cool
I didn't know having military tech will increase priv market sell price...

So...

How expensive should a bushel be for it not to be worth stocking with any more?

Is it the best good to stock with?

Does everyone stock at the end of the set?

How do you trade in (sorry this might not be correct terminology) your bushels at the end? Like if you have 10mil bushels that you bought for 40$ and you sell on priv market for 35$ in order to buy tanks to make a jump... but then your private market runs out of tanks... and pub market is selling tanks at $900 a pop and oil at $500 a barrel, is stocking food strategy still more worth it than just getting all the tanks earlier w $ you would have otherwise stocked food with? How do you guys calculate stocking/destocking?

0.1% of 2 billion is 2,000,000 but if you buy $2,000,000 worth of bushels at $40 and later sell them at $35, you lose $250,000,000.

You can't stock cash til the end, you'll need to hide that money so corruption doesn't eat up your profits, stock food and oil then destock at the end of the set, imagine how much money you'd lose if you had $30b on hand...its an absurd amount.

There are a lot of variables that go into answering that question. I'd never buy above 50 though.

Is it the best good to stock with? Yes.

Does everyone stock at the end of the set? No, Commie indies don't, they basically just gain.

You answered your own question. You'll also notice in private you can use oil to generate military units. You gotta make sure you use your stock before everything sells out on the last day.
How do you guys calculate stocking/destocking? With a calculator, like, turns left till end of set x production / bushels x priv bushel price / priv military blah blah.

0.1% of 2 billion is 2,000,000 but if you buy $2,000,000 worth of bushels at $40 and later sell them at $35, you lose $250,000,000.
Its 0.1% of your cash above 2bil. Yeah, thats just how it goes. You need to work out what is best for you for your circumstances. If you wanna keep all your money on hand, just wait till someone grabs you and takes $250mil from you, then you'll understand.

Primary is one of the servers where stocking food can sometimes be worse than just buying straight military. buying food at 55 or 60, that the price is sometimes at, and then selling it a few days later at 35-40 is a huge loss.

If you can buy food cheaper its usually really good for you but when thats not possible you really have to get creative. Thats what I like about this server, the fact that some art and math have to go into your stocking/destocking decisions, unlike on team or alliance where its pretty much just to stock the same ratio every set and then follow a 15 point plan to destock.

ee should emulate the real world, when we have millions of troops we wouldn’t need as many farms or buy as much food.

my commie govt will make the millions of troops plant potatoes and they’re good!
