can someone help me understand how I calculate the amount of units I need to send to have a successful attack? I keep failing when i expect to break

cbelanger7 - when you're calculating, the basic calculation is (if you're using jets to attck, and nothing else):

Tanks = 2 units of defense, Turrets = 1 unit of defense, Troops = .5 units of defense.

Once you figure this out, it's Number of defensive units * weapons tech

So, if someone has 100k turrets, 25k tanks, and 100k troops, it would look like this:

(25,000 * 2) + (100,000) + (50,000) = Raw Defense

then

Raw Defense * weapons tech = total defense


You also have to figure in government bonuses for Dict and Rep governments. Dict = Total Defense * 1.2, Rep = Total Defense * .8

Dict is 125%, Rep is 90%, and it looks like you forgot to mention the defense bonus and defensive allies.

Defensive allies are rather crucial.

If you spy someone and they have $0 ally expense, then obviously they have 0 allies. If they're in GDI, that will also show up in Ally expense, and since you can see their land total (and what the cost is of GDI per acre of land) you can figure out if they have any allies, or if they're just in GDI.

Thanks Slag - couldn't remember what the new ones were changed to, and as usual I was too lazy to go look it up. I do like those numbers MUCH better than the old ones though :-)

I was trying to keep it pretty basic, but yeah, I did totally space on Def. Allies....maybe that's why I bounce so many grabs. lol!

I just convert all to jets/turrets. Tanks are worth 2 turrets/jets and 2 troops equal 1 jet/turret.

Btw, a question about the defense bonus % that is displayed on the military spy, I don't remember that being in old Earth. Is that allies? I think it has said 0% and weapons tech has not been included then, neither government.

I think the defensive bonus shown in spy ops is for the defense boost you can purchase using bonus points.

I've made an attack calculator, that will help people determine the correct breaks. It incorporates all aspects of the game including govt bonus, weapons, bonus, and allied bonus.

and also the old "mehul" factor (still exists but the name didn't really carry)
