Out of curiosity, how does someone get deleted before playing a single turn?

I know its probably due to cheating, but how did the mods manage to find out before any funny business started happening?

i don't think it's fair to delete to ip address since most of the apartment complexes i rented have one high speed wifi for everyone. It's part of the rental package.
Or if you live in the same area and use yoru smartphone to play running off the same 3G/4G tower. Which is quite often nowadays. People who plays earth usually only find out about this through word of mouth so it's a very high possibility.

Thats fair enough Warster, as I understand completely why those thing should be kept secret.

Is there a reason why you guys don ban repeat cheaters completely? I'd hate to see cheating becoming prevalent again as it was in the old Earth - which is why I quit back then.

I love the fact that although there are a small group of players now, cheating is extremely minimal.

Having said that, I think you guys running the game are doing a great job keeping this game clean. Kudos for that!

Instead of permbanning, why don't they have a negative outcome on their account. Something like they have a +10% expenses cost and disable their tech alliance slots.

@Rob: we reserve the right to ban cheaters completely but in general the feeling is that it's somewhat overkill to do that unless it's something really extreme.

Cuz having leeches is not cheating, you have the option to drop them, also some people will allow a leech in xchange for them to leech on OF or DF ally. The issue with jj was that he lied his way in,he would say "yes I'm teching this set" and out of good will, we get suckered into allying with him (happened twice to me) he's a repeat ofender, permaban his ass! Or make his profile public so we know where he is every set!
