Hey guys, first time playing EE in a very long time (8-10 years) back when it was still 2025, but I was never that involved to begin with.

I'm interested in an alliance or veteran player to teach me strats, the proper response in certain situations, and really just tips and tricks for becoming really good at the game. I've skimmed the wiki quite a few times, but I'm more of a social learner really. If anyone's interested in teaching me or giving me a shot, I'd really appreciate it.

One quick question though, why do you guys consider warring and netting separate? Can't they just be done at the same time? :X

It depends what you consider warring; we dont consider landgrabbing as warring. We tend to class warring as blowing your stock and beating the crap out of another team and the process leading up to the war is called wargaining. While netgaining is blowing your stock at the end of the set to achieve the highest nw.

However, there is more than just net/war to consider. Do you prefer a big/small/medium sized alliance? Do you prefer tight knit alliances, or those that pride themselves on statistical efficiency, or just want to run turns and not bothered.

I'm a war leader for SoF. We are one of the bigger alliances, who like to war the majority of sets. Wouldn't say that we are all tactical genii, but our war team is good and the community is close during wartime. Don't feel rushed into a decission though, its already mid-set, so you'd be starting propper somewhere next set in a month really.

My suggestion would be to do exactly what you set out to in the topic of this thread Damos; find someone who is very active and really willing to take you through the ins-and-outs of the game. I can't think of a much better player to do that than Ivan. He is one of the best warchat leaders in the game and also has numerous top ten finishes across multiple servers. The guy can play just about anything, like many players, the difference being his level of activity and willingness to help.

I would say if you join a small alliance you risk an atmosphere of low activity, maybe the boards are not active etc. If you join a large alliance, you may not feel as important. I prefer larger groups personally.

You need to be able to netgain in order to war, otherwise you will have terrible country builds and no stock when it comes time for war.

But the reason some call themselves netters and some warrers, is because that is their specialty. A good portion of the alliances left in the game focus on one aspect and seldom do they mix things up willingly.

There are a small handful of balanced tags who can war and netgain equally well, Sanct is one of them :)

aponic has solid advice, and what Thomas said about it being necessary to netgain in order to war effectively is also true.

Whenever I used to play a new server and didn't necessarily know who I wanted to play with, I asked everyone: "If you were going to join a clan other than the one you currently play with, which would it be and why?"

You get some interesting responses and usually you'll get some alliances that stand out above the others.
