As you know nothing is set in stone when it comes to an EXACT definition, but i think most clans go by the this definition :

Lets say a LAF country hits a NA country. NA gets 1 retal ( 1:1) from the LAF country. NA meaning ANYONE from the clan gets a chance at grabbing the LAF country, no matter the NW- it is up to NA to decide who takes the chance at a successful grab. I say chance cause a DH will end it there - you lose.

PDM is the only one that i know that will do counrty:country L:L if { 80% } isn't recovered on the first grab. ( i think it is 80 % )

uh.. the goal of a retal is to punish you for hitting the person in the clan via gaining as much land as possible =P

so if you are afraid of being hit with a country that will rip you apart in the clan and think of it as a topfeed, then what do you expect? =P

No retals should be allowed, only full scale war.

by the accepted rule of a retal it can not be considered a topfeed. because your action, according to every single alliance policy, allows me atleast one hit back. if your initial attack gains 150 acres, and i retal for 1000 acres, i have not topfed, i have retalled per your own retal policy.

depends on what you are trying to do - if the landgrab was a midfeed and you're trying to promote the generation of land through the grab/retal process, then it's short sighted. If your goal is to deter other alliances from grabbing your alliance, then it is perfect. If the landgrab was a bottom feed, then good on you for taking the land back from someone stupid enough to bottom feed an alliance that could retal the hit.
