I don't agree with firing the girl. Some punishment, docked pay or a suspension, but not firing. Some of us no doubt have done many stupid things on the job, there should be some leniency, especially for a first offence.

Also, I do think the girls an idiot. Should never risk your paycheck on anything unless you have a backup plan already in place. 4 years things can change, lose your job and you can lose your home and your well being.

I think it was ill conceived, unless her goal is to pursue the acting. If that is the case than she is a fluff for using a important ceremonial event for self promotion.

Her comment about wanting a Canadian equivalent to the "Arab Spring" strikes me as more than a little ignorant.

Even as I agree with her politics on a macro level, maintaining strong government institutions is more important that what Harper can do in the next four years.
